Set up for 50/50?

If you were going to ride a 50/50 B road / Off road ride but you didnt know what severity the off road would be, how would you set your bike up? Say a 2 day ride, or a 5 day ride. Geared for speed on the road, struggle on the hills? Geared for hills, cruise on the road? Theres a time limit, but its ...

Re: What's fueling the hate?

I think its the expectation of privilege. So many people seem to believe in the moment that what they are doing at the time is the most important thing that needs doing. Roadies on the road annoyed at cars for being in the way, car drivers annoyed at bikes being in the way, pedestrians annoyed at tr...

Re: Todays ride

Looks like your Garmin gave up as well Bob and decided to pass out upside down The zip ties aren't quite tight enough so it has a habit of revolving around the bar  Put a loat of insulation tape on the bar first (or some old inner tube). The zip ties dig into it and minimize rotation (not elim...

A little birdie tells me that Joshs' misdemeanor is that his support crew gave him a warm top when they were all stuck at Brush Mountain. He did not take it away from BM. The other riders were taking stuff from Kirsten to wear while they were holed up. Depends on how hard you want to interpret the ...

Sounds like youve been through this before steve.
I found gorilla tape to lift on almost every tyre change.

Mini frame bag?

Does anyone know of a mini frame bag that goes inside the front triangle, right at the front. Its just for general riding really, to keep tools and a tube. Same way little saddle bags have generally been used but in the frame out of the way of dropper posts or indeed crud. Thinking 0.5L sort of size...

Re: 141 QR Boost Dropouts - Sonder Frontier

What hubs do you have? I confess I dont know of anyone doing adapters from 135 to 141 qr. 142 thru yes but thats a different frame question. Moving to any boost spacing frame and adapting existing hubs you may need to watch for chain-tyre clearance. Also, the frontier is 650+ not 29+ so you might no...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Fitted new Sram XX1 carbon cranks and BB to the Epic last night, and took it for a ride tonight. It does seem to go quite fast..... Also tried (again) to get the tyres to seal on the CX bike. New gorilla tape and fresh sealant. Still 2 flat tyres this morning. Effing thing Whats the list of parts? ...

Dehydrated/ firepot meals.

Ok, so my first foray into ready made dehydrated meals. Specifically firepot. Now, ive done my fair share of carrying pasta and pesto etc so thought I'd try firepot. Bloody rubbish. Followed the instructions exactly. Then waited longer. Chilli was dry tasting, cardboardy, flavourless. Crap. Rather h...
