Re: Bikepacking.com: The Complete Guide to Bikepacking Scotland

It's very good but I think it's perhaps more a guide for those not having gone before Completely agree. I enjoyed reading it, smirking and nodding along to a few of the points. Enjoyed the language bit too, learnt something there. I thought it would read to some folk in a similar way that I would r...

Re: Full Mudgaurds?

I'll have a look. Although, I got all swapsie earlier. I had good root about and discovered an unused set of 53mm bluemels I bought last year that didn't fit over the 45mm riddlers on my pinnacle. At the time, I stored them for future use (forgot to return them) and bought a set of VO 63mm guards. S...

I dont know the immediate area, but 30km puts you on top of salter fell, 20km puts you over between burnley and hebden.

I can pick some spots out if thats any good?

Re: Rohloff hub

I used to have one, sold it as it was on my main MTB and the mass being at the back did bother me in the end. Just made the bike ride a bit odd for what I wanted it for. However, I regret selling it. Every time winter emerges and I listen to the crunch of peak district grit in my drivetrain I hanker...

Re: Stans Arch & Crest

I've had an Arch go yes, that one had multiple cracks on almost all drive side spokes, and also returned a brand new wheel with a tiny crack. Returned to building my own wheels after that, even though the build wheels were cheaper than the parts separately. The spokes in said wheels felt tighter tha...

Re: mini aero bar thingy

I did wonder if that would happen.... I admit that whilst I'm all for hand positions, it was more the whole cockpit bag set up I was interested in. For my drop bar bike, I was considering a full frame bag. It's a big triangle and would afford loads of space. This would mean moving the bottles...

Fresh like just out of the shower?

Fresh like just released from a bib short prison after 18 hours?

Too much?

mini aero bar thingy

I've seen somewhere, a mini aero bar that looks like a little loop clamped either side of the stem and doesn't extend very far at all. I've seen it in a bike review or bag review I think. Its really short, not even half as sticky out as an actual aero bar..... Anyone know what the hell I am talking ...

Modifying a sleeping bag

I have a fairly only PHD Minim sleeping bag. its the 400g ish variety with no zip. I rarely use it, favouring my heavier and slightly warmer quilt. Mainly as I find quilts much nicer to sleep in, especially than a bag with no zip. So, I'm thinking about modifying the bag. Basically stitching up a na...

Re: (a downbag vote)

I'd go for the lighter one from those two. Protect the bag as best from moisture with a bivi bag / shelter etc. I resistant foot box is nice if the foot spends time pressed against the end of a tent. If in bivi, I put (use a tent more recently) the tarp up even in nice weather to catch the morning m...
