Re: WRT 2015 'Weigh in' results.
5th ! That's a pleasant surprise as I didn't consciously make any effort to trim weight down. 7lbs down from last year even though I took the Rig7 tarp.
I can only put it down to not taking:
So much food.
A sus fork.
My own weight in cheese.

Thanks Stu & Dee and all involved in orgainising this event. For me, this years pace was definitely more gentle with late starts, long lunches and early finishes the order of the day. No pics from the start due to the horrid weather but the sun eventually came out. http://i931.photobucket.com/al...

Mines an older 750ml pot, however, I found the 2 minute porage cup fits inside just right. Any of those 'just add boiling water' types of cups work well. Porage, pot noodle etc.

Top man Stu. I gotta say the best WRT, riding wise, was 2013 when I followed a route of yours and just enjoyed the ride.

WRT Route Needed
Once again no navigational preparation has occurred and I'm without a route for the WRT. Last year FantasticMrMatt shared his route with me and Stu gave me a great route the year before. To some this may sound like I've missed half the fun of the event but in reality I prefer the riding and bivying ...

The CX bike is ruled out and I'll be on a Singular Pegasus. Just debating whether to put a bouncy fork on it or stay ridged.

Re: Stabilising the Alpkit Fuel Pod (or other top tube bag)
I've a bikepack.eu fuel tank which has the ladder stitch arrangement and work great. For stability, I think the velcro that goes round the stem just needs to be as high as possible. That said, I've had the same idea as Stu/Beth of velcro'ing it to the frame bag but this would mean I could only use t...

I'm in. I love this event and book out the weekend as soon as dates are known. I might try and get a weight of under 40lb this year, which I plan to achieve by cutting back on the copious amounts of cheese I pack.

I'm 6'3 and have a Hunka XL. With a standard 183cm Neo Air inside the bivi I still have loads of room. I'm a skinny fell though..

Re: Adding lifters to a tarp
Charlie, I've sewn on lifters to a MYOG tarp using a circle of cordura stuck on with with a 3 to 1 mix of white spirit & silicon. I then sewed through as per stu's suggestion and re applied a little more silicone over the stitching. The result can be seen in this thread http://bearbonesbikepacki...

+1 for Malaga as a destination. Cheap flights and access to the Sierra Nivada mountains. I did an 8 day trip out there last March and it was fantastic.

When traveling light or not expecting rain I'll take this 230g 8.5x4.5 foot MYOG tarp. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad151/hoojum/SoloBivi/MYOG%20Tarp/4E27C771-D6DB-45CA-92C3-BF6A1E47D0AE-6387-000004A97F6F91F8_zps3315ce06.jpg If expecting liquid sunshine I'll take the Rig7 and set it up as a py...

The Yodal van turned up this morning with that "bargain bag of the year", the Force10 catalyst 400. Really impressed with the build and loft for a bag costing £139. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad151/hoojum/B1vvyB1k1ng/8DBDF4EB-D342-49BF-BE2A-16FC6CF95B3E_zpsnykqyjmf.jpg [/URL] Looki...

Re: Any good deals going on a down bag?
Thanks both. At 6.3" it might be a squeeze but it is a cracking deal. Having suffered in a 2 seasons bag now for a few years and having the opportunity to buy a new one I'd happily pay a little more to lower the price and temp rating. GairyM, out of interest what long bag did you replace the Ve...

Any good deals going on a down bag?
I've got a trip to the Atlas Mountains planned this spring which my 2 seasons bag won't be enough for. As I seemed to have missed out on the end of line deals on the Rab neutrino 400's, has anybody spotted any good deals on a nice -5 to -10 rated down bag? I've been eyeing up PHD's minum 400 -5 but ...
