Re: The post man's been ...

FedX knocked in my door this morning and handed me a super warm Neoair Xtherm mat. Not bad considering I ordered it at 3pm the day before. Looking forward to trying it out.

Re: Alternative to an Airlok Xtra

As mentioned by Adrian Brewster, the 12l Lumo bags are a good size. Long and thin and very durable but 200 odd grams. Mines lasted well compared to the Airlok which wore a hole in on it first outing.

Re: WRT GR are out!

Thanks Rocklobstercat that site looks just the business, I'm on it.

Stu, I'll take you up on that offer, just incase I run into more trouble. Could you mail me at nathancrewAThotmailDOTcom. Thanks

Re: WRT GR are out!

Thanks Chew. I've managed to get the grid refs saved in GetaMap. Now I've just got to work out how to get them out as gpx file or similar. Getting there slowly. Thanks

Re: WRT GR are out!

Thanks All, I like the look of the BikeHike website and I'd already checked it out. I couldn't find anyway of adding or finding the grid references Stu sent out. The OS explorer website is the only site I could get to recognise grid refs like SN872974.

Still puzzled :?

Re: WRT GR are out!

I'm struggling with a route this year. Last year I had paper maps but this year a friend has kindly lent me a Garmin Oregon 450. I can navigate the device OK but I'm struggling how to get a route planned on a computer loaded onto the Garmin. The device has the UK OS maps loaded, so I guess I just ne...

First Solo Bivi

Now I've been doing this bikepacking lark for a while but I'd realised I've never been out on my own. Having been let down at the last minute, by thee who shall from now be known as DogOutDean, I thought I'd do my first solo bivi. The weather seamed to clear from what seemed like months of rain so I...

Re: Short Christmas Bivvy

Thank you both for your advice. So, I stumbled upon a thin (5mm) camping foam mat in the pound shop which I'm going to stick a piece of space blanket to. It rolls up pretty small, weighs nowt and should be pretty warm to sleep on if I can keep it in place. http://www.poundland.co.uk/product-range/a-...

Short Christmas Bivvy

Headed out with a mate between Christmas and New Year for a overnighter which I thought I'd share. Considering it hadn't stopped raining for what seems like an eternity we we're blessed with a dry but windy night.   The bikes were all prepped. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad151/hoojum/2E3FE5C3...

Re: Life cycle of a bivi beginner

Simon, nice to see you've been out again. Ah the slope thing, I seem to always end up on a slope and have got used to it. Friday's trip, however, saw a nice flat(ish) pitch and a great night sleep on the new multimat. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad151/hoojum/8BCC4AAA-CE80-4100-9FC9-93396CA0C5...

Re: Life cycle of a bivi beginner

Simon it was good to meet you at Friston and I love the write up of your steady decline into the weird obsessive world of bikepacking. We're looking to head out this weekend and it would good to see you again. I'll be looking to cook up some kebabs fit for a king this time.
