Re: Framebag Zip Repair

I expect these guys can do it, mate. https://lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk. Not used them personally and don't know anyone who has had a frame bag repaired by them, but know they've done a good job of replacing zips on friends' waterproofs etc

Re: Expensive hipster bivvy gear

So - one night in the sleeping bag done. It was a chilly one - not sure what overnight temps were at the OMM midcamp, but it was well below zero. Lots of frozen puddles/turf the following morning. It was also blowing a hoolie for a lot of the time. I slept in: merino baselayer, fleece, Crikey, how m...

Re: Expensive hipster bivvy gear

Well, Crikey, how much sent me the jacket/sleeping bag to test (it was me wot wrote the first article linked to). It arrived not long before Crikey, how much announced the release, so I didn't get any chance for real world testing before we released the news story. Obviously the full review will be ...

Re: Jennride 2018

Also - Burty, I feel your pain! I had exactly that happen to me halfway along the GR5 route last summer. I ended up having to ziptie my shoes together at the start of each day, and keep running repairs going as each hike-a-bike would trash all my hard work. Hope you made it round ok.

Re: Jennride 2018

Well said, Steve and everyone. Thanks again Rich for another incredible event. Each year it has been a fitting way to remember Jenn in the way that I think she would have appreciated the most. It's always great to see the simple act of riding bikes around a beautiful part of the world bringing peopl...

Re: My 2017 #jennride

Nice one Tom. I staggered in about an hour after you being similarly cautious on the wet boulders of Garburn and the ruts on Green Quarter - a good talking to on the former after a fall and a bit of sense of humour failure on the latter, I'm afraid words may have been said. I probably walked 90% of...

My 2017 #jennride

Thought I'd break the habit of a life time and actually get round to writing about a ride while it is still fresh in my mind...

GPS mapping for France - IGN?

Morning everyone

Was wondering whether the collective wisdom here knew whether it is possible to get IGN maps (or mapping of a similar kind of detail) on microSD to use with a Garmin device? Ideally not at a huge cost...

Re: Turin - Nice Video

I was beginning to think there wouldn't be any marmot footage, luckily it all came good. Where did he get that deckchair from, I didn't have a deckchair, nor did I ever see one - did he carry it? I've forgotten exactly where the deckchair was, but I seem to remember it being at the top of modest gr...

Nice film though shame about the sound at the start.
Pivot are imported into the UK by Upgrade - who are also Kinesis UK distributors. I'm fairly sure Mike is supported by Upgrade, rather than Pivot USA.

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

Hi James First of all, massive congratulations on an incredible route. My first instinct was to say that it is what it is. It’s part of what I love about the nature of these rides. There are tough bits, and there are those moments that make every effort worthwhile. I’ve got some unforgettable memori...

Re: Bib shorts help

I'm 6ft and 30in waist. Often end up buying small bib-shorts. Usually fine, if a little shorter on the leg. Morvelo gear fits me well (in a medium). Really rate the pad they use and their 3/4s as well.

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

Oh, and also... thank you to ZeroDarkBivy for the generous donation of a couple of tins of tuna and a loaf of bread. We bumped into him on the way up to Col Turini as he was retreating. We'd missed all resupply options, but were pushing on with what we knew was going to be not quite enough for the d...

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

Interestingly, I'd gone for MTB tyres, and would definitely go with something faster rolling next time. The drag on the long tarmac sections was er, a drag, and while I could have a little more fun on the descents, I was riding with someone else, so was waiting at the bottom to regather anyway. I'm ...

Done and dusted and sunbathing on Nice beach. We took shorter options where they were available, but as we were climbing up to Col Turini last night my riding partner, Jon, got pretty ill. All of the vomit. We bivvied where we were, then climbed the rest this morning. It left him totally spent thoug...
