If the cranks fit a 68/73mm bb then I'll take them!

Speedster Stoves - Anyone used them?

Someone linked to these on STW, just wondered if anyone had used the stoves or pot stands, all looks very light and also cheap!

Re: strong 29'' wheelset idea's

I also wanted some wide rims bombproof 29er rims and went with Exal XL25s, they are pretty wide but also quite heavy at 770g, lighter than the Kris Holm rims though.

Also you can get two of them for less than £20 on ebay.

Re: Where to go in Mid Wales

Thanks, that would be great, I'm not sure on distance really, road touring I'll do 100k comfortably but I haven't ridden a full day offroad, I usually start late in the day, bivvi, then return by the afternoon the next day. I guess 40k might be better, but I'm really not sure... Thanks for your help...

Where to go in Mid Wales

Hi everyone, I live in Aberystwyth and fancy getting out for two or three days next week. When I plan routes there is usually loads of hike-a-bike and it results in me stuck in a bog most of the time. Does anyone know any good routes, or even good tracks ect that would be fun for riding on for a cou...

Tarp wanted

Hey,

I'm after my first tarp, ideally it will be smallish, I only need it to cover my bivi bag and give me some cooking space, and not too heavy.

Second hand ones or suggestions for suitable new ones would be great.

Thanks!

Re: Tell me about taking a bike on a plane

Like farawayvisions I took my bike on a plane via easyjet with the see through bag (idea being they know it's a bike, they treat it like a bike) It arrived fine and I carried the bag with me although I'm sure I could've left it somewhere. I'd do it this way again, I'd be too worried it'd be hard to ...

Re: CTC Plastic Bike Bag

Hi, I used one when flying to the Alps with my road tourer a couple of weeks ago. It was fine on the way out, no damage, on the return journey the front wheel got a bit out of true, still rode fine with rim brakes though, so not a big deal. Definitely helped it being seen as a bike not another bag t...

Re: MYOG bar harnesses and bar bags with Jones Loops

I have the Titec J-bars which are very similar and have a system that works brilliantly; keeps the bag away from the front of the bike and does not wobble. I'll try explain it. I use an Alpkit airlock (20l) and place the bag loops inbetween the two parts of bar, (the main part closest to you and the...

Re: New frame

Someone mentioned the Surly karate monkey but there is also the Surly Ogre, same geometry as the karate monkey but so so many bottle cage mounts (triple mounts on fork & downtube and bottle cage mounts on seat tube and under the downtube) Not a light bike but for bikepacking I think its great :)...

Wanted : 29er wheelset

Hi,
I'm looking for a 29er disc brake wheelset, preferably a singlespeed rear hub, but a geared one wouldn't be bad :)
Thanks

Re: PSA MYOG VX21 fabric resiliance...

I'm just making a framebag for my steel frame and didn't want to remove the bolts in case the frame filled with water, I thought about replacing the standard bolts with button head bolts? Not sure if it would make any difference..

Re: On One Inbred choice..

Hi, I was recently in a similar position to you (18 years old, smaller than my older brothers) and in the middle of sizes for a Surly Ogre frame, the 18" and 20". In the end I went for the 20" with a shorter-than-usual stem (90mm vs the standard 110mm) and an almost inline seatpost. I...

Okay thankyou, I will take the seatclamp but I think you may have priced it too high

Would you consider a lower price?
Thanks

Hi, If you are looking for chubby tires then schwalbe big apples or super motos are a good bet, they come in sizes up to 60mm(2.35).
