Veloista are in Switzerland, which isn't in the EU. Therefore I suspect goods from there would be subject to import duties just the same as N. America or Asia etc? edit: found this via google: On March the 4th, 2001, 77.3% of the Swiss people have rejected in a popular vote an initiative to join th...

Re: Handlebar bag query

Two of my mates used Alpkit Airlok Xtra strapped directly to the bars on a 300km bikepack through Wales - both of them rubbed holes in their bags. I'm not saying that you need to shell out for a quality handlebar bag, but SOME kind of protection is better than none - maybe get a sheet of cordura and...

Fired, did you ever have the quick release fail and lost your cage on a bumpy ride?

Re: Cage for fuel bottle advice needed

Any chance you can compromise with the medium bottle and a more robust lighter mounting? [/url] Thanks for the pics Steve, already have a 1L bottle and honestly, I might need the extra fuel that fits in there. I think, I'll go with the Bikebuddy - steel is real ;) ...though the monkiicage does seam...

Brian and Charlotte's: Trail resource page

I've stumbled upon this page.

I'm not sure if it already came up on the forum, but it contains some cool info on trails - pics, gps tracks and such. Well documented.
Thought it might be useful to someone.

Cage for fuel bottle advice needed

I'm looking into options for carrying an MSR 1l fuel bottle under my downtube and so far the best options seem to be: A. Monkiicage, nice and small, adjustable but it's plastic and might be on the fragile side. B. Bikebuddy, more burly than the monkiicage, all metal and not a lot of parts to break/b...

FS: Surly Framebag for Pugsley 20"

New bag (tapered kind). Got it together with the Pugs and never used - already have a fitting Wildcat bag and will stick with that.

Re: Do we know anything about Alaska?

It strikes me as one of the last truly wild places left, that you could possibly take a bike. I've been thinking about this myself and came to the conclusion that I (we?) underestimate my own backyard. If you leave western Europe you'll get plenty of wild, pristine places. I'm thinking Northern Sca...

Just got my pair of Vivobarefoot Ultra shoes, I might have found my holy grail of camping/2nd pair shoes.
With the insert (which has a rubberized sole) you basically get 3 shoes for the price of one.
The outer shoe with 240g/pair could be a tad lighter though.

Re: The most bike-packed bike ever...?

Saw this great trip report a couple of months back. I was always wondering how did the suspension cope with all that stuff on it.
I particularly liked the pocket strapped to the saddlebag - have Iceland in my head this year and still wondering if I can do 3-4 weeks rack less. :geek:

Very nice Stu, can you check what's the max diameter that would fit the cage? I'm looking for something that could fit a cooking system, something like the jetboil sumo and the anything cage is a complete no-go until it's fixed.
