Re: "Enduro" bearings in BB
enduro ones last for around a year ime. which is longer than shimano by around a third. worst i have ever had was a superstar that lasted 3 months of summer! i've never had much luck in knocking them out; although friends have; i just send them off to BETD & get the bearings replaced. If you sen...

Re: Is your frame bag affected by cross winds?
i have noticed a bit of a difference; however saying that it is central so doesn't seem to twist the bike too much as you can notice with panniers.
also whatever you have; pannier, seat pack, frame bag or panniers will be effected.

Re: Alternative shape handlebars - why?
i use salsa motoace bars in 710mm & 17° sweep. i run them almost flat ands swept back a lot. i fins that they are more comfortable than the easton shape for long rides. although i run eastons on my more techy bike (and sometimes some 750mm sunlines). the salsa bars don't have backsweep & you...

cheers griff. STIs are a bit of a pain - i'm currently speccing* a new build with Drops and mtb rear cassette. my head is spinning re 1x/double/ triple, 9sp/10sp, sti/bar end shifters. even retro shift is on my radar atm. * squirrelling parts round the house like an alcoholic hiding miniatures

Re: General Gearing
the last 2 WRTs have both had me walking for periods on a 29er with 22:36 bottom gear. I'd have no issue with doing it 1x9 with 32:36. there are some bit's i'd be walking whatever bike you had. imo. what bike you running griffdowg? the chainring question is interesting; road triples (i assume thats ...

Re: Handlebar Dry Bag
8L in summer with a smaller sleeping bag 13L in winter with a larger down bag. 13L is very close to the front wheel; 29er, short head tube & an inverted stem mean not much clearance - it just requires careful strapping. obscures too much of the front wheel. you're not supposed to be looking at t...

Re: Compression Clothing
i like it on trips away (friday-sunday) we typically do more riding than normal, on bigger hills than normal.
it seems to make me recover a little better, by sunday others seem to have fatigued more than me - might be nonsense but i reckon it works. :D

I've got some time off from the 5th. and i'm not quire sure what to do with it.....

you could get a bit of camo netting to drape over it.

Re: Seat Packs
i have a revelate one shipped from alaska.
it's great - really can't fault it at all. only problem is the excessive handling fee by uk customs. £20 tax + £20 handling fee.

i use bontrager rims and mavic tn719 on my wheelssets. both have held up pretty well. the first bontrager rims did break but they got replaced under warranty, known problem with the discontinued duster rims. i'm wary of stans' lack of eyelets particulary when loaded up. this might be unfounded - i'v...

i'm thinking about buying a new mat - for tomorrow night. last minute as normal.
it's cold out and my 3/4 alpkit mat seems to go down over night.
any experiences of the pacific outdoor mat? is it noticeably warmer than the thermarest style mats...
