Recommend me a tent (2 person, ~£300)

I'm after a recommendation for a tent. I'm normally a bivy/tarp/hammock camper so I'm not so up on the tent world, but my wife and I are looking to get out this year camping/backpacking together. Constraints: - 2 person, ideally on the roomier side - £300 max - Semi or freestanding - Ideally under 2...

Re: Sonder Frontier - anyone had/got one?

Sounds like only good things to say about it, particularly at the price and with the 148TA not causing any obselecence issues like the older 141QR. Thanks all. Edit: just saw your post as I posted mine @Loki, if it's the one in your ad on the classifieds then unfortunately I'd be after a Large. Than...

Good to hear positive things, ears open for anyone else's input too. And yes, looking at the MK2 with the boost thru-axles.

Sonder Frontier - anyone had/got one?

Tempted by a Frontier to replace my DIY frame that's not quite working for me, has anyone had/got one and got any opinions? I've read the review Stu did awhile back and a few bits on Singletrack but apart from that there's not much out there. The appeal is: a) price seems reasonable for frame only b...

Re: Favourite kit from 2020

Shimano MW5 boots, right at the tail end of the year for me. Sure they aren't fully waterproof, but it's a huge improvement on foot warmth, even in the recent snow.

Re: Washing a down bag

Very helpful, think I'll go with the washing machine and then the launderette dryer and a low heat. Thanks!

Washing a down bag

I've got a down bag that's overdue a wash (Pipedream 400) and could do with some advice. Got the below options: Wash at home with down wash in either the washing machine or handwash in the bath, but I don't currently have a tumble drier, and as far as I'm aware a tennis ball and low heat are the bes...

Yes, though make sure it's a road compatible one (not MTB). I think SRAM do an Apex 1x flat bar shifter for about £25 that would work.

Wtd - 9 speed bar end shifter

As above, I'm looking for a 9 speed bar end shifter that's compatible with a Shimano rear mech. Not fussed on brand or cosmetic condition. Ta.

Re: Taking your bike on the train

Never had any hassle with Arriva on the Wales line either, and I've taken my bike on the train between Craven Arms/Church Stretton/Shrewsbury dozens of times, including during commuting hours. Never bothered to book, just rock up and climb on. The carriage with the bike storage will have a sticker o...

Shropshire Way is also worth a look if you're considering the Jack Mytton. It goes all over the Stretton Hills, Wenlock Edge and the Clees. I think there is info/maps on the Shrops council website.

Swap: My Alpkit Hunka XL for your Regular Hunka

Is anyone interested in a swap? Mine is the black one and has been used for 3 nights. It's in very good condition with no rips or marks or tears. I've always used it on top of a matt, never directly on the ground. It's just bigger than I need and the regular one looks a better size. I'm not fussed w...

Surly Ogre 29er Fork - Big price drop

I'm selling the steel Surly Ogre fork that I've just taken off my Inbred. I think it was originally bought off someone here a couple of years ago, it's a brilliant fork for bikepacking but I'm swapping to a carbon fork now. Overall in very good condition with no cracks or dents. It was originally ol...

Tidy looking seatpack. :) You couldn't post up the link to the Alpkit guide could you? I've just been looking around their website and I can't seem to locate it.

Cheers, Jack.

Re: That Old Question - What Jacket

I use the Berghaus Mount Asgard Smock (the original one) and it's been everything you need from a jacket. It plenty dry enough (it kept me dry last weekend) and the Gore-Tex is reasonably breathable. It's worn really well, no signs of scuffing on shoulders or back where the rucksack straps have been...
