Re: New (carbon?) wheels

Also consider blue flow wheels (Nottingham based). They build with hope if that’s what you’re after.
I quite liked their warranty when I was looking. In the end I’ve gone to DT Swiss rims and hubs, built by the Keep pedalling.
They’ve done all my current wheels and have been most excellent

Advice needed ….
What size do people use? I’ve seen 2.5-3lt ones on Amazon, but unsure about size. (And dimensions of the container.
Width v depth etc
Any recommendations on Brands I should be looking at?

Re: Hot 1: hat 0 - what lightweight oven mitt?

I did my handles with red heat shrink - works very nicely
Edit…. Noticed the burn at the bottom. Make flame smaller and doesn’t happen.
Tricky with with meths burner I know (I use gas so usually set flame to no larger than mug diameter)

Saddle design

Had to do a double take, when I saw one of these go past me when walking. Looks weird, but somehow intrigued at to whether they are any good.
Anyone use one?

Re: How much grief can I expect?

My mate has had one for years, issues so far
- drive shafts wear due to no grease from factory. Replaced and greased on rebuild. No further issues
- every 3years new EGR

Think thats about it, otherwise pretty hassle free for him

Kipped in the shelterstone in the Cairngorms a few times. Always felt claustraphobic when inside.
Summer was ok, winter was sheltered but it was more like a freezer than a cosy bothy.
After that I always made the extra effort to get in and out in one day from the Hutchison or Corrie Cas

I’m a bit like you (with a few bikes)

- built the SS this year and have really enjoyed riding it. Got me fitter too.
- geared hardtail
- FS bouncy

I enjoy all 3 and love the variety :-bd

I do have a bit of Karrimat cut to the righ5 size for a rucksac, for use as back padding/sit mat
