Now you tell me

I am not too worried though, mates had his on a Soda for 3 years with no problems at all, and the clamp cant be any worse than the alien one on the USE post it replaces - Although I have probably now jinxed myself!

Re: The post man's been ...

Hi zigrat, yea a bit warry about carbon on a bikepacking bike ever since I saw someone snap a carbon post. I also tend to think that hanging a seatpack off it is then exposing it to a whole load of forces it wasnt designed for. Tried a mates ti post before I took the plunge and it deffinatly smoothe...

Re: Bars

Love my Jones Loop bars on the Fargo, but just dont seem to work for me on the HT were they feel flexy when your wrestling through the techy stuff. Liked Mary's on the HT though, but as others have said bit narrow and not much room for attaching stuff. So just got a set of Carnegies to see if these ...

What tyres for bikepaking?

Ok bit of a STW forum thread I know, but have some new 29er Hope Hoops on order and my trusty nanoraptors arent compatable with them. Only other tyre I have used is a race king and they are lethal in any kind of mud.

Just interested in what everyone else uses.

Re: Do believe the Hype - deserving gear.

Endura Mt500 baggies, spesh bg comp shoes and ridge line bg gloves are the only bits of kit I have actually worn out and then replaced with the same. Gore-tex socks. Although not meny people seem to make these anymore they are great for keeping your feet warm and dry and make great camp footware. Al...

Re: Welsh Coast to Coast

Sounds good. Hoping I might wangle an extended pass until Thursday so Lllanwrtyd sounds a good bail out point, but will need see what time we might hit there as trains back to my neck of the woods arent very regular. Are you planning to catch the Chester to Colwyn train? If so I will be on same one,...

Re: WTD: Gas tank / Fuel tank / Mountain feed bag?

Have you tried one of these http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/topeak-topeak-fuel-tank-bag-prod27959/ Friend has one. It's same as my gas tank but has more organiser pockets on inside and an extra security strap for top tube which isn't a bad thing as my gas tank has tenancy to lean to one side if over filled

This sounds like fun and I have A few days off that week. If I start with you on Monday where do you think you will be by Wednesday as would need to catch a train out.

Also what sort of distance will you be averaging ? Not that quick or fit I'm afraid
