I know this is really bonkers and sadly this is how my mind works but if I don't have mudguard eyes and rack mounts on the frame I can't have them on the fork I can't help it though
I can see this escalating in to a whole new bike (in addition to the other 3)

That would be pretty much perfect without the rack mounts. How come they are now heavier?

Re: Does this CX (gravel) fork exist...or is it possible to get a fork made ?
Yep lots of close but none quite there and none of them quote a weight
I did pick up a kona p2 disc fork without realising that there were much heavier versions as the one I got was well over 1000g, maybe I should just watch ebay and hope for a butted version to appear one day!

400mm ish axle to crown
45mm ish offset
Skinny steel, unicrown, straight leg
Light and comfortable, 800g ish ?
Not overbuilt with rack mounts , bosses , mudguard mounts, nine of that shenanigans.
Straight steerer
QR
Post mount would be ideal
Good clearance for 42mm tyre

Re: Going back to 10
I'm still on 9 speed, 2x9 (22/36x11-34) mtb and 1x9 (38X11-40) cx (oh and 1x2 on the road bike)
No real plans to upgrade anything unless I stop being able to get bits. I tell myself it's because 9 speed was the zenith but really I am just quite tight when it comes to paying for consumables

"however its not in anyway "light" or "responsive".
hmm, I've been casually eyeing one as a bikepacking iron horse but this kind of puts me off. I thought my CDF was a tank and sold it on

Re: Rigid Forks
What do we think the lifespan of a carbon fork is (assuming no serious crashes)? My CX has a carbon fork on, a good one, but I still worry about running straps round it. My inbred has a steel on one fork which is not the most forgiving but it’s ok. Some of the early on one rigid forks were worse as ...

It passes within a couple of miles of my house south of Selkirk in the Ettrick Valley and within a few feet of my office in Hermiston Gate, Edinburgh. Might have to get the train in one day in the summer and ride home with a bivi  Cape Wrath is on my list but not sure if I wouldn't just rather...

Wow thread resurrection, bit confused by the problem though as it’s possible to set the wildcat lion up to leave a cable gap

Sorry I didn't make it. My stepdaughter fell ill at the last minute and I had to look after the dog. She has been to bothies before but she's a rescue dog and doesn't cope well with strangers, especially a group so I did a Shaun and took myself off to Mark Cottage all on my lonesome. I was wo...

Re: Favourite bike of 'all time'?
Despite not being the current favourite it would have to be my 2007 853 Inbred. It's been built up quite a few different ways in the last 12 years but I'd never part with it and it's only cracked once so far  Been thinking I might put midge bars and fugly stem back on it as the flat bars are th...

the best value for money is a cheap china light and a decent MTB Battery o r say an lightweight head unit like an exposire joystick. The price of lights and range *has dropped fantastically since you bought those but the cheap sets have gash batteries yeah I have a joystick for the bike, that I hav...

Yeah he does do them but no switch so you have to unplug them which seems a faff

Out of interest anyone still using these? I have an ancient (350lm) set I still use for night running (prefer that to night cycling) and wondering about getting a new battery from them. It probably makes no sense and the money would be better spent on a new head torch but I'm quite attached to them.

I read the "Hey Ho Let's Go!" and immediately thought "Ramones" (and actually read it with the same stress and pauses as in the song) but didn't notice the asterisk. Same here  People with this sort of musical taste might enjoy Stereo Underground on BBC Sounds, it's pretty...
