Re: Borders 350/220 Registration Open.

I've been looking at alternate parts of the route as I wasn't very happy with last year's addition through the wind farm as it adds too much gravel. The reasoning behind it was to get rid of the overlong Devils Beeftub bikehike but you know what, I think that bikehike section is part of what the Bor...

Re: I give up.

The way they try to justify having a fire by saying two of them were ex firemen!!! Surely being ex firemen they should have known better. Or maybe that's why they're no longer firemen.

Re: That there Decathlon Riverside.

I must admit that I don't understand the bags everywhere approach. Unless your a very disciplined packer how do you remember where everything is plus all the extra faff of attaching them all. Also a single large pannier must weight less, carry more and have fewer parts likely to fail then several sm...

Re: Way OT - inflatable canoe/kayak

Pack rafting is something that could interest me but I have lower back problems and twisting under load is the worst thing I can do to it so is paddling likely to cause me pain or is the paddling motion mostly in the shoulders and arms?

Borders 350/220 Registration Open.

I had thought of not doing the group start anymore due to lack of numbers but I've had three people requesting a start this year without any advertising so I'm going to go for it again this year if lockdown allows. Start Sat 28 Aug, English bank holiday weekend. I'm thinking of moving the start to M...

A heat pack located over the femural artery in the groin will help by warming the blood which then circulates around the body.
Heat holder socks and full length thermals.

Re: Wildlife

Five years ago I built a garden pond. I was amazed at how quickly aquatic insects and beatles appeared in it and after only six weeks I saw a common newt swimming in it. Unfortunately I've never seen it since. I was hoping to attract frogs or toads but after three years nothing appeared. That third ...

Re: Bladder issues

Is this just a question of not squeezing it out enough when you actually go? Not necessarily. If I squeeze until I think I'm done then I'll dribble because although my bladder feels empty it's actually not. I have to squeeze, relax for 20 seconds, squeeze, relax for 20 seconds then one more squeeze...

Re: Bladder issues

I'm now 62 and in my experience after I think I've finished peeing I know my bladder isn't actually completely empty so I wait 30 seconds then pee again, then wait 30 more seconds and pee again. Repeat until nowt more comes out. Time consuming yes but much better that having pissy pants which can be...

Re: The 7 Mile Itch (another Strictly Local ride)

Well that certainly brings back memories. Thirty odd years ago when I got my first mountain bike I lived in the West end of Newcastle. I'll never forget the feeling of satisfaction I felt planning a route on OS 1:25 scale maps and then riding from there to Seaton Sluice " mostly off-road" which actu...

Re: Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?

As a minimum, some form of summer bivi in various locations. Like the winter bivy format but in celebration of being to head out with others This is what I had in mind when I posted but I think my subject title doesn't express that very well. I think you'd get more people out on the same week end t...

No Shaf. Everyone joins forces and rides together.
Shall we say the RTTS is going to be the nationwide group meet and then arrange area group meets for those who can't make the RTTS?

I think Haltwhistle in Northumberland is the centre of Britain if you include the islands and a point in The Forest of Bowland if you don't.

Re: Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?

This is a very nice idea and would it be ok to suggest somewhere central? But where is the centre of the UK then? Sorry, was thinking along the lines of the winter bivi so, Wales, Scotland, NE England etc etc arrange rides but if there's enough interest in a nationwide group bivi then we'll go for ...

Can We Have A Nationwide Post Lockdown Group Bivi Ride?

Given that the winter bivi had to be abandoned would people be interested in arranging a post lockdown group bivi/meet up when we are allowed.
As I'm in Scotland I fancy the Cairngorms or the Trossachs.

Re: Straightening A Silwing Ridgeline?

I bought 1 years ago in a sale and never used it in anger for that very reason Ray.
