Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

It’s a sad cheery Friday for me as we complete on the sale of Mums house. Very sad to say goodbye to my parents and their little house but on the plus side I can spend some of the inheritance on all the things my Dad wouldn’t buy me as a kid...like Flight Deck. Been there and done that Dave, it's a...

Wearing stuff under a wetsuit - weird  Commando is the answer

Postie - a fixed carbon joystick (carbon sleeve and metal parts had unbonded). Secondhand to me so not warrantied but only cost £14 which seemed OK. Suspect they've also given it a once over and re-charged.

Re: Has anyone actually managed to buy a bike this year?

I got a PX Goldrush late last year (odered in Black Friday offer, delivered December-ish IIRC).

Serendipitously it's a large gravel wanger.

No. you can't have it.

A BLackburn airstick SL because I wanted something teeny that'd fit in a wee saddlebag (earlier thread). I dread to think how much effort it'd take to get a tyre up to a rideable pressure but in theory I guess it would be able to

Re: Recommend a softshell

Not sure if fits what you mean as a "softshell" but if light, windproof and a bit of shower protection are required a Howies Doyle isn't bad: https://howies.co.uk/products/mens-doyle-waterproof-jacket Sadly they only seem to be doing black at the moment (daft colour IMO) and at SRP it's over-priced ...

I'm not going to agree or not, I haven't read enough of the original material to do so, but I'm enjoying the discussion.

Re: Whats better than a Hunka (crappy AK) but not?

I had a falling out with Alpkit over the original Gamma headtorch. I had three fail in exactly the same way (the clips on the battery compartment lid snapped off). I commented about this issue because I thought it was a good product spoiled by a small design fault and that a headtorch is potentiall...

Bato saddle bag from AK (plus compass and whistle for the hill bag). Seems alright though the zip seem to need a "knack". Early days

Oh aye. More concerned it might not really have been Tredz though in reality expect it was all legit. Just enough faff in this instance to tip me towards the global-evil that is Alpkit (sorry Shaf )

This is approaching an amount of faff that's beyond what I want. I mean, a tarp + bivvy + bug net? Isn't it better to just get a tent? Or a tarp + bivvy with integrated bug net. Indeed. Only mentioned as an option *if it might work for you* Secondhand Trailstars come up now and then plus the...

Re: 3/4 length sleeping mats

Whilst it might not be the determining factor, what is the weight saving between full > 3/4? UberLite small 158g UberLite regular 264g My normal Neoair Xlite is 354g So if I stuck with a full length mat I'd only save 90g but switching to the small I'd save 196g which 'might' be worth the outlay. Bought it, used it a couple of times, lost it, found it in recent house move (sadly I'd bought other GPS in intervening period).

Good condition. Includes cable, mounts, rubber bands and head unit.

Re: 3/4 length sleeping mats

Cold feet keep me awake, consequently I've always accepted the (small) weight penalty of a full length mat. HYOH  This has always been my approach true. Have never tried a 3/4 length mat, so is based purely on theory, however. It's always struck me as a slightly odd way to save weight. You wo...

A Garmin HRM Dual because it seems I'm such a sweaty git the optical wrist sensor on the watch gets overwhelmed at times (particularly on the rower / sufferfest).

Re: Clothing cockup

I run pretty hot and am a sweaty beggar. I can be comfy in quite low temps in a T and shorts (though I'm no Geordie-lass ). Anyhow, this is a crappy characteristic when pedaling or yomping hard and then stopping for a breather, particularly if exposed or in windy conditions. I guess the only p...
