Re: BeSpoked 2024 - Manchester

I went a couple of times when it was at Bristol Temple Meads and it was great. At one point someone local who we used to ride with (read try and keep up with) who started building frames was exhibiting, which was a bonus. Well worth an afternoon if you're into the details of bike building. Usually s...

Re: Woods Rat Run

Loads of options on the route during more social hours after your dawn ferry: corfe castle probably has a bakery, supermarket and bakery in Wareham, lots of options in Blandford and pubs in most villages (I'd avoid the one in Tollard Royal though as it's a bit posh  ).

Hi I have looked and it's a 20t if that's any good https://photos.app.goo.gl/ntPwdbXsbjGxkjNe8 😄🚲🚲👍 I'm running a 19T already and wanted to go twiddly so I reckon I'm going to buy an Andel 21T one from velosolo, but if your 20T is cheap I might take it off your hands as well. PM me a price. :-bd

Wtd: 21T SS cog

Before I buy a Surly one, does anyone have a 21T single speed cog to fit an HG cassette languishing in their parts box that they want to sell or trade? Condition not that important, it's not going to do big mileage.

Re: Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

If you care about weight savings, this harness saves you about 300gr over traditional saddlebag solutions. I've scanned your text twice and I can't see an actual weight for what you have created? My Wildcat harnesses and basic Alpkit drybags save over 300g over a "traditional saddlebag" i...

You shouldn't have a problem if you're outside the villages other than a possible late / early rambling dog walker.

A summer sunrise bivvy at Swyre Head would be ace. :-bd

CK for bling, DT240 for function. You can probably source a new DT240 rear hub for £250.

Also had the 2ltr TDi 180hp in a 2014 Golf and had engine issues similar to above, although not until 90k / 6yrs old. £700 to fix then part ex'd before anything else happened.

Cheapest by a significant margin I've ever seen my favourite DT Swiss XM481 30mm internal rims, from a reputable shop's outlet on ebay, in stock for 29 and 27.5 in both 28 and 32 holes.

I've always failed the set off 30 mph cameras on the bike. Maybe it's time to dust off the tinfoil jacket and try again in some Welsh villages.

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

Not many solid plans for 2024; lost my mojo for riding for a couple of months after Paris-Brest 1200k audax in August. Found it again in Scotland in November and I think I'm going to try and continue with some more new-area exploration stuff. Whether that means road or offroad dunno. I have some hal...

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

Any recommendations for 300 and 400 audax routes in Wales, ideally that start near the Severn bridge or in the S Wales area, are welcome. Brevet Cymru 400 is the classic Bridge to Coast and back route, little changed in the last 15-20 years. Maybe freestyle the A40 return as it's designed to be lat...

Re: Which Exposure light?

For equal amount of time spent in road cycling as well as mountain biking. Strada. Hopefully they've started using usb-c charging now. Nope. Cheaper the better and bulk is an issue (so the maxD types are probably not suitable) as I never take that much storage ability. Though I like to remove the h...

Re: Fat slick tyre

Do Panaracer Gravelking Slick come in 40? They definitely do 35. I used 32s for a set of audaxes this year; the name is a misnomer, they are a decently fast road tyre not really a gravel tyre.

Re: Salsa Warroad owners….

Sounds pretty tight clearances for an allroad bike; my 'pure' road bike Mason Definition clears 700x32 and mudguards with plenty of room.

Maybe try a roadie-lemgth stem (110-130mm) if you're going full winter road setup and it feels a bit compact?

Anyone got an old but functional decent sus fork for 26" and QR languishing in the back of their shed? I think my son is suffering from "that's the bike you want not I want Dad" having built him a rigid XS Inbred a couple of years ago with the old matching white steel girder forks. Hi...

A couple of days ago they discounted the Shimano MW702 winter boots by about £50 but I knew they were sold out in all sizes before that already. Somewhere between shambolic and sharp practice.
