Re: GBDuro Starts Tomorrow 1st August 8am

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDdsu9AFug7/?igshid=ukpcj1q83a1u No doubt the context is missing to this photo but it appears to show the leader setting out from a pub. I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt, but wasn't the plan to avoid these places? If no one is buying anything on route, surely the un...

(I met Anisa on PBP last year and she seemed a pretty determined sort of person, probably about right to tough it through an event like this).

Re: Gatherings?

Make it like a dating comedy show sketch: everyone has to carry a predefined small, bright, perhaps ridiculous item on show so when you find a random stranger on a bike over the weekend you can instantly recognise those on the same non-event as you. I hear ya: just the presence of someone with a bik...

Re: Gatherings?

Send out coordinates as usual, but instead of start at BB towers start is at one of the coords. Alot X starters per coord to keep start group size down. Keep coords middle of nowwhere to remain unnoticed. Figure out a schedule/routes/plan that has enough people meeting enough others over two days t...

Re: Show us your SQUARE (please).

Porton Down might be a limiter for me in the future, but I think Salisbury Plain ranges will halt me before then; I'm only at 31x31 and I'm nudging the south side of Salisbury. I have done a couple of rides on days when they open the ranges up and you can visit Imber, but you don't stray off the tra...

Hi Steve

I don't have an ECR and haven't ridden the Divide! But I do have a large Karate Monkey and live just up the road from Dorchester, if that's any help?

Re: Drop Bar MTB Conversion

As for the SRAM set up = 10 speed SRAM works with 10 speed MTB SRAM as i run an X0 rear mech with rival I am not sure what the largest cog is it will service at the rear but i would assume [ possibly with new b screw]its going to be doing 40-42 and then more with a goat link Yes, that's what I work...

Re: Drop Bar MTB Conversion

No help I'm afraid, but here's what I did to my 26" wheel Ibis Tranny which started as a potentially sub-standard idea but turned out to ride great. 650x42s but the sus fork had to go, it was odd on the road and unnecessary for the non-tech offroad. I take it your lefty has a lockout? I stuck with T...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Suggestions are to use: https://brouter.de/brouter-web <Load>, <Tracks>, <Your VV .kml file> Allows you to plot in your missing tiles and from there you can plot a route. Only an initial play around, but looks promising :-bd Just wanted to say thanks for posting this, very useful as non-subscriber ...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Haven't had much inspiration for explorer tiles since I made it to 30x30 Dec 2018 and the South Coast pretty much stopped me from going bigger without a massive recentre-ing. So it's nice to see I'm still joint third in the BB list, but where did JP go from that list? Kevin and Jack were always the ...

Re: Carbon Fibre Prime Gravel Wheelset For Sale

I'll join the queue for interest in these if

a) you know what model or at least what the internal rim width is?

b) what weight are they?

c) 12mm thru axle adaptors are available for at least the front and possibly the rear

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

I don't have any problem paying for Services (like Veloviewer) but it comes down to VFM. It always seemed that Strava was more aimed at the "serious" training folk, especially roadies. A cheaper, social-only, Strava subscription would have worked for me and they'd have got some income rather than n...

If you want to geek out on speed/fitness and the like have a look at intervals.icu, it's free but you can make donations if you wish (I don't have anything to do with the site, I'm just a user)

This looks ace, and hadn't heard of it before. Thanks :-bd

Looks like they've stopped trading, shame, but other than being a little short in the TT my 2Souls Quarterhorse ticks all of your boxes.

Occasionally I think of selling it, then the madness passes.

Q - Do Carradice trad saddle bags contact the back of your leg when pedalling, when used as below? [Barley] Yes when attached by bag loops and seatpost strap, but only lightly and I just got used to it. No when I added the QR mount and frame. I keep my Carradice for the memories of the rides it did...

What condition and price would the gunmetal pair be? Are they evos?

I have the matching front hub to the black one I sold you Sean, 32, black, not sure whether I have spare 15mm adaptors or not. If the gunmetal ones could replace them, maybe there's a deal to be done?

Re: Whats the one event you'll miss, missing out on the most this year?

Not the most fun (and many on here will scoff no doubt) but the one that requires the most commitment and buildup, after three years away I'd set my mind on a return to the 24hr time trial national championship. I'd have more fun on the Highland Fling 1000, Fred Whitton, Borders of Belgium 1000 and ...
