Re: BB200 2020

Won't be partaking. Second tier. Not certain it's a good idea to travel down anway. Suspect Calderdale will be going 3rd tier in a few days anyway. Ditto. Dorset is in the south with a Tory fuckwit MP so we'll be in tier 1 for a while no doubt, but traipsing around the country for my own riding amu...

Is it just sticking to the road between Bwlch and Harbour past Cloggau?
Pretty much Paul. Just stick to the road and bypass the BW that joins the road via the farm.

Re: BB200 2020

I shall email out a detour that bypasses the BW that runs through Dreavour Farm. Obviously, you are quite within your rights to be there but doing this helps keep the peace. Not sure what I've done but I can't get any of the mapping software sites I frequent to open the detour.gpx file that was sen...

Re: Exposure bar mount. Upside down?

Here's the picture that greets me on this Exposure Strada page with just the comment "road specific lens to project a beam pattern combining spot and wide beams, tailored for tarmac" :???: https://exposurelights.com/pub/media/catalog/product/cache/e553aa1a98291c64f882346ff00b380f/s/t/strada_rs_.jpg ...

Re: Exposure bar mount. Upside down?

Have run two versions of the Strada and a Mk7 Joystick fitted 'upside down' underneath bars for years, especially on the road bikes.

The display on the rear of the Strada flips so the text is the right way up, which tells me Exposure expect people to mount them either way.

Re: BB200 2020

Had a brief debate with myself about starting at Hay to do the biggest climbs first but have decided I'll just go with the closest-to-me start at Crickhowell which means Builth Burger King at 90k  then it's whether I can get to Hay at 150k before closing time... ...or whether I can get to Wales...

Re: Jones loops vs drop bars

The thing I found with drops was I wanted to use the widest part when off-road...but that's not where the brakes are. On luxys I found myself cruising along the road sections on the 660 wide drops, then having to go into superman stretched narrow position on anything you technical to cover the lever...

Re: BB200 2020

Been considering whether I could 69er my Tranny (oo-er) as a BB200 bike for a couple of years...usually whilst I'm pushing/dragging/lifting my heavyweight steel bike over or up something late at night on a BearBones event. Finally put it together using my mates Hope/Flow rear wheel (my old Hope/Cres...

Does anyone use XT Di2?
An XT Di2 rear mech (with Ultegra shifters) on a road bike on which I wanted a wider range cassette. I'll be damned if I'm submerging it in water and smashing it of rocks on a MTB!

Same. Weekend days are irrelevant; weather forecast is the defining factor.

Wanted: 32 hole 26" tubeless rim

I'm after a 32 hole 26" rim that'll go tubeless, something like a Crest or Arch would be perfect, but I'm interested in anything that'll fit the bill as long as it's not led a hard life.

I might be interested in a complete wheel but looking to spend £10s not £100s.

Whatcha got?

One of the things I like about Sunrace cassettes is they will sell you the bottom few sprockets on their own, understanding they will be the ones you've worn out way before the 42/46/50 sprocket.

Really enjoyed this write up and as I work in the Loch Goil - Loch Fyne area on a regular basis I've ridden many of your tracks before but never had the time to join them up. I too took a punt on the Abbsynia bothy trail and found it to be excellent, although the descent down to the A82 was a bit li...

Re: Water wheels

Not unusual if you submerge a rim, although I can get away with a very wet (road) ride without water ingress if it's just failing from the sky not fording giant puddles.

Ditto, had to take valve out to get water out.

That is much appreciated, thanks. Measured my Medium Rab jacket which I just get away with the size and it's 72cm length but 63cm sleeve, so I think the small sleeve length is going to scupper a deal for me.
...and the small has now sold out making the decision even easier ha!
