Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?

Italy just (23h last night) imposed the requirement of a negative test less than 72 hours old for people coming from my region of France - arse!

Getting a test this afternoon but results currently taking between 2-6 days to come back.

Cutting things fine!

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?

I've done a fair bit of riding in (Northern) Italy this summer and other than wearing a mask and washing your hands it's pretty much business as usual. Things are a bit quieter and less things are open than usual but if the demand is there then so it's the supply as far as I've experienced. I'm hopi...

I've turned the rock and roll up to eleven this morning with BOTH a pint of water with summer fruits Berocca AND a glass of almond milk, protein powder, banana and blueberries - boom!

Route matching app/site/concept

A bit of a random one but.....does anyone know of a website, app or tool that night be capable of creating a local route that loosely (as closely as possible) matches a route profile of another route. I've done it manually once when I couldn't get to an event and so plotted a similarly profiled rout...

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?

It’s a shame the organisers are not allowing entries to be deferred to next year, but I understand they need to break even. They're offering 70€ off next year's entry, no? Or did I make that up? Be a shame not to see any friendly faces this year but I'm still hopeful of a fun time in the hills - we...

Re: narrowest tyre on a 40mm rim ?

For one edition of the Tuscany Trail I threw a 2.4" on the front of my Rooster which has 52mm rims - it looked great and rode brilliantly? :-bd But...I tried assuming it wouldn't work and think I got lucky with that particular combo (Stans 'Hugo' with an On-one 'Smorgesbord'). Tubeless and everythin...

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?

So..... Two weeks to go - anyone any closer to making a decision??? Things all looking fairly ok in terms of the plague/quarantine situation etc... but nothing is certain at all so no real reassurance to be taken from that. I'm seriously contemplating throwing my sh1t together today and setting off ...

Re: Strong 29+ wheel recommendation

Is 35mm even considered + these days???

My regular bouncy bike has Fortus 30mm rims

Anyway, I've got a pair of 52mm Stans 'Hugo's and they've been bombproof for about 5 years (and I'm massive and ride in the Alps).

Re: BB200 2020

We were planning on being in the UK over the BB dates this year but obviously the zombie apocalypse has scuppered things a tad. So.....I'm thinking I'll plot something very loosely similar (distance-wise at least) and do it between those dates in order to at least feel like I'm a tiny bit taking par...

Thanks all,
Can anyone recommend the best GPX viewer app?
I use one (appropriately) called 'GPX Viewer'.

I eventually paid for the pro version for a few useful extra features but I happily used the free version for years before that.

Re: Fatfighters 2020

Afternoon all, So.....I got back yesterday from a bloody lovely three day tootle on the bike. During which I rode my bike for at least 7 hours per day (elapsed time, probably 5.5 hrs moving time). At a non-sedentary pace (AVG 18kph over mostly gravel terrain). I didn't kick the arse out of the food ...

Re: Come back 2x, all is forgiven!

I've just moved to 2ish*11 on my gravel bike. Compact front and Shimano 1*11 (11-42t) on the rear. If it's flat I move (via using my fingers to lift something) the chain to the big ring and.....wait for it..... if it gets hilly I.....move it back. Takes 3-4 seconds each time and has saved me lots of...

I like it when it's either really hot or really cold. Our usual "in between, not doing much of anything apart from rain" sort of weather doesn't suit me at all. +1 for this ^ Other than the drivers on the road and (most of) the people that populate the UK, the weather is the thing I miss least abou...

Re: What's The Furthest You've Had To Walk Back Due To A Mechanical?

Does body mechanal count? My biggest / toughest pushes have been 'body mechanicals' too. Once, in the Ardeche, the Landover was in the garage and we needed ice cream and beer on a hot day. Me and a mate visiting from from home cycled the 15 miles (downhill) to the next town. Just as we got there he...
