Re: FS New Patagonia base layers ... I've got 5.

Just to add to the above, these are great baselayers and £15 is a steal. As has been mentioned they are on the big side, so size down. As a warmth rating, if you have used a Helly Hansen Warm, these are not quite as warm as those but are great on a bike in the winter. I wear mine for commuting. I wo...

Re: Packraft fanciers ...

mmm, not convinced by that. I can't imagine anything weighing 700gm is going to be strong enough to cope with having a bike strapped to it,no matter how many tie ons you get 'em to fit. plus it looks very unstable to paddle, the guy spends the few seconds we see of the raft in action with his feet ...

Best bet is to email Antony who runs http://www.stolenbristolbikes.com . I'll certainly keep an eye out for it. You all secure now? Well I hammered the garage door locks back but without spending £££ there isn't much I can do. The salsa and Lisa's Specialised (which they didn't take!) will now be k...

Re: Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert

This was stolen from my garage last night  Please keep your eye out on the circuit, especially trail centres. Its an ex-demo in limited colour so there are very few in this colour. I have never seen another like it. If you see it in Bristol it would DEFINITELY be mine. Flatfish - could you pass...

Re: cold night/sleeping bag problem

You are using a mat/pad? I find my MH to be true to temp so 5c limit is a little on the high side for UK use. Thermal liners as suggested by Stu are ok, but im not sure they are worth the £30-£50 they go for. I would say they add 1-2c most of the time. I would buy a 3 season bag (in summer to save £...

Re: Anyone using a softshell?

yes. they are not waterproof! Well, they didn't use to be. Some of the newer stuff like gore 'active' would be worth a look but traditionally softshells are water/wind resistant. Good for drizzle. Good for a few hours. Not good for ALL day in the rain, get gore-tex or event. I have had a North Face ...
