Re: Tent for Iceland

yer, you cant really cook out of the vaude. 3 season should do you for Iceland. The tent wont be pitched long enough to deal with excess snow buildup. Most 3 season tents can also deal well with high winds. Good friends of mine have a TN Voyager 2.2 http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/Product_Type/Tents/Lig...

Re: Tent for Iceland

It's a shame that there isn't an option to test shelters before buying I think you can 'rent' them from Alpkit before buying and they will knock that price off if you eventually buy one from them. I to would be looking at mountain tents over ultra light weight. maybe a good compromise would be some...

Re: Paint Repair

rub off any rust with some fine sandpaper, this will also key the surface. Paint on (carefully) some primer. When its dry, sand it back a little (gently!) to get it a little lower than level with the existing paint (do by touch). Then topcoat with paint. maybe 2 coats depending on thickness. If your...

Re: OS 'Tracks'

I will shoot 1st. Its a tough one to explain. You really need to know how to 'read' an OS map. Im just looking at that GR on a 1:50k and it looks fine to me. Probably normal forest track. Reasons? Its a continuation of a tarmac road and I can see it leads to a couple of singular buildings or structu...

Re: Stem for carbon bars

Don't quote me on this but I think it's to do with we're the bar comes out of each side of the stem. If it's chamfered it's fine, if it has a sharp edge I believe it sets up a stress point which may cause the bar to crack/break. that makes sense. I'm sure I read that many many moons ago when carbon...

Re: Packraft - Denali Llama has arrived :)

Looks very cool! What's the deal with packafting? Is any stretch of water fair game? Water access is a minefield, Scotland is fine but their access rights are so much better. I believe the river is the property of the land owner, and therefore private. Add in fishing rights and the issue just gets ...

http://siroccoverland.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/11.jpg 1st outing on the Avon. Water was high with some big hydraulics. Very happy with performance, usability and packed size. 4 piece paddle is a bit of a struggle though. spraydeck is a must for anyone considering one. http://siroccoverland.files...

It's not because of my dancing either it's because I am covered in a tomato relish. Thanks, I found it after I posted, sorry.

I cannot find any pics of it in use though. Do you have any? Is is the same shape as a standard groundsheet? or does it come up at the sides? Just wondering if you could use it in the rain without a bivibag.

I had a medium on my Salsa Shawn.

In it was: 1st aid kit, maps, cable ties, phone, camera, spare battery, solor powered battery pack, mini tripod, 2 tubes, pump, multitool, levers, patches, pack of jelly babies and about 4-5 snack bars.

DNF - Is the Cuban Fastpack a MYOG? do you have pics? would you sell seperately? how much? :D

Looking to fit 2 people in mine and think a good groundsheet or fastpack is the way to go to keep it light.
