Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

February Bivi in the bag with Barney. We chose a spot about 8 miles away to help Barney ease back in to cycling. The spot in mind was under a bridge that crosses a old railway line that is now long gone, however the distinctive hollow and land scars are still visible on Google maps and it shows up a...

Resize_20240131_224805_5143.jpg Hi all, Long time member, infrequent visitor. I have jumped on the BAM again after a few years off. The first one was a chilled affair focusing on relaxing and catching up with Barney who met me later in the evening. It was a short cycle in to Nant-y-ffrith alone, so...

Re: Any foam roller folks on here?

I use one, I have gotten over the pain of using it. I can tell when I have neglected using it, first my right knee starts to ache a bit an then my Achilles feels tight and my glute get tight. This is all on the right leg where I have arthritis in my knee and hip. Rolling really helps, the jury is st...

Re: Clothes layering advice: what under softshell or what on top of merino?

Over the last two years I have gone from being able to wear a T-shirt most of the year to freezing cold or sweaty hot with extra layers. I started trying Marino and found it great for warmth but not so great at wicking, I then experimented with adding a synthetic T-shirt over a L/S 100weight Marino ...

This morning I awoke still feeling very accomplished at this weekends V-WRT, lite version with the boys and mummy, They did amazing. Usually for the final day I ride over Dylife gorge and have a chat with Don the farmer at the bottom before rolling in to BB towers. Don the farmer is a lovely person ...

Day two of the virtual WRT known this year as the 'Where you are Ride Thing' for 2020. Grid refs plotted on the map and off we went, the first two were bagged early and ment it was time for some snacks. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49875624982_9f7d0fe5c1_z.jpg PSX_20200509_191715 by Matthew R...

Re: WhereYouAre Ride Thing 2020

Tandem towing family WRT. We started by creating our own grid refs, (GR) using a lottery of easting and northing from a selection of tandem friendly GR numbers. Mummy picked a easting and Jacob a northing from a list I made and we plotted 4 points then Jacob picked the best route to bag them all. ht...

WRT grid refs planning

Hey all, How is every one plotting the route this year? Last year I stuck the refs on physical map and pinned together a route then did a gpx on the computer, it was a enjoyable experience but needed dedicated time.. I wouldn't mind a app or software this year that I could type the refs in for a ove...

Over the winter and spring I managed to drop from 19.8st to 18.9 however after some recent illness it has popped back up to 19.6st.
Things are all good now hopefully next weigh in the weight will be on the move.

Re: Scotland SE Winter Bivi Dec 10/11.

ok so back to the original plan! I was quite taken by the Cramond Island camp, oh well. Right, as Blair will confirm I am extremely slow at climbing so on the day if we are staying as a group we will need to adjust riding times. Alternatively I have mapped the route I assume we are taking and can ca...

Right then, sorry to say but Fingland and the other BBA Bothies are all booked for that week end. We can stick with the original plan and use Over Pawhope and hope it's not heaving and take bivi gear in case it is or, use Bunnies Bothy and take a different route from last year (every chance we will...

Just left the fat bike club, I am not 100% sure fat is for me. Going to cancel the order and get a refund. I cant see where it would fit in to my limited time of riding at the moment, I was only tipped over the edge because the misses said she liked it and would get it for me. No more herpes stu :wi...

Just got herpes stu! Went for the fatboy after a test ride this morning, and I am sure the Sonders fat would have been just as good but the rack mounts was a must really. I can see tyre pressure tuning being a important part of the bike as my first ride at 8psi was not quite right at 15psi it was be...

Re: Joining the fat bike club this week.

I haven't got either but have got a Moonlander and had a pair of On-One Fatties before that. Assuming you're going for bikes of a similar value I'd probably go for the Sonder as it's carbon. Not that weight is a big deal really, I don't notice that the Moonlander is heavier than the fattie, it just...

Joining the fat bike club this week.

As par the title I am fat bike shopping.
I have two choice in mind the sonders from alpkit and specialized fat boy.
What have yoh got and which would you pick out of the two?
I a leaning towards the fatboy for the frame mount but a frame bag on the sondera could negate this!
Help please?
