Re: Lets talk about CX tyres

Zippy, Go very careful on this. tyre blowing off the rim on the road would be dangerous. Road tires that are designed for tubeless are made to be used at lower pressures than standard road tires

I was going to say bontrager cxr for a good all rounder re rolling, toughness, longevity, weight, price, but they don't make them any more so look at cx0, 20% off here

Re: Could you give my route the once over please?

The chute bit that is most popular, if you like that sort of thing, is the bridleway from 807805 down to 797796 (only skirting round the back of the clearing at Blaen Myherin at the bottom). Steep and loose with silly-steep alternatives.Like Stu says, anticlockwise only. Personally I would stick to ...

When is the route out then?
(If I was not sat here trying to learn something about bioinformatics in relation to next generation sequencing by tomorrow, I would be trying to work it out from the profile and the bothy positions)

Re: CX disc wheels - owt better out there?

I recently bought a pair of these http://www.justridingalong.com/cl-25.html
(though can't afford spokes to build at the moment)
Are they too light and racy for your purposes?

2165g the pair on those Shimano wheels. I think you could get that down a bit without sacrificing strength too much.

Re: 2013 BB 200 - Times

Before the final history is written I ought to say that my time as entered on the finish sheet was actually 17.03. My handwriting might not have been too clear at the time. And I'm more than twice as old as Zippy. And that John Russell knows how to pass a knackered old bloke in the final km with goo...

Pontrhydfendigaid, or "that village" as most BB folk say. Round here people call it "Bont" There is also Teifi Inn at Ffair Rhos, a mile past Bont on the corner of the turn up to Claerwen. I vaguely remember reading about their generous hospitality to some WRT riders, so it would...

Re: Broke a spoke!

Nipple replacement: The XC500 wheelset features a special nipple installation system that is employed during wheel assembly. The rim does not have any holes through which nipples are normally introduced. Instead, the nipple must be fed through the valve hole on a length of thread, and pulled into po...

Current Schwalbe can be a real battle getting on and off Stans rims to the point that they would make trailside repairs impractical.

Re: WRT GR are out!

Rideable but with pushing bits. It would be a big push up Consti hill out of Aber. Coming down the other side there are about forty small steps (but you could head out of Aber over the golf course and down to Clarach through the woods). Fairly easy between Clarach and Wallog then some steep up and d...
