That's an 8sp version. I've got singlespeed and 10sp versions in development

That is genius - how do you make it - my 3 kids want one!!!! I have loads of spare chain - what is in the middle / how do the 2 attach to each other!?

I think it's a smallest sprocket from a cassette or a small SS ring, then the chain formed around it in such a way that it doesn't want to come off, then joined together

You'll need to clean it first though

It runs around a normal sealed cartridge bearing in the middle - specifically the thin ones that get used inside Hope freehub bodies.

I removed the seals to make sure they ran as smoothly as possible.
The chain was wrapped around the bearing first and held in place with a zip-tie while I glued the chain to the bearing with a hot glue gun, and then removed the zip-tie*
I cut and filed down two road bar end caps to press into the centre of the bearings, filing the rear of them to make sure they didn't catch on the chain.

* turns out the zip-tie adds quite a bit to the integrity of it, as without it, it didn't pass the playground test on the first day
I reglued and left the zip-tie in place and they've been OK. I'm thinking something like araldite might be better then the hot glue gun glue

The circumference of bearing influences the pattern you make with the chain. Here's a singlespeed one I made for myself around a slightly larger bearing:

Just throw the chain in some salty water and it will seize in place
