So fracas I understand it Gift Aid is only available for direct donations to charities. And where the donated amount does not exceed personal tax allowances.Bearbonesnorm wrote:I'm not sure it'd work Reg, well, not without becoming a real minefield. When someone enters they're not making any form of charitable donation, they're simply paying BB for goods / services. It's only once the fat lass finally shuts up, that we hand whatever money is left over to the Air Ambulance - I will mention it to someone who's much more clued up than me though. But just wondered, if giftaid isn't currently involved, could it be?

Thought you'd appreciate it, as it doesn't seem to happen that often

Re: Just in case you didn't know ...
I do love this forum (for many reasons) - there's a bit of a reverse-tiff going on here ^^^^^^^, and I'm entirely unaware of the myriad(*) undercurrents (just like the "two-way" discussions I have with Mrs Perrin!), but it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it from afar .
Anyroadup, the only reason I mentioned it Stu is cos when I finally got my derriere in gear for WRT2017 and clicked on "sign your life away here" the small print(**) said "The donation is £25.00". Now I hope I'm not opening a rats nest here, apologies if so, but it does say "donation" and not "entry fee". Hence my thoughts re giftaid. Hmm.....
(*) Dr Nick, note I said "myriad" not "myriad of". As a cunning linguist yourself, "myriad of" must be like fingernails on a blackboard too.
But what do I know eh? - http://english.stackexchange.com/questi ... -of-myriad
(**) I always read the small print cos it's always far more interesting than the large print.

Well spotted, that's because I'm still trying my best to convince Paypal not to be tight b'stards and remove the 3% fee from WRT entries.but it does say "donation" and not "entry fee".

Re: Just in case you didn't know ...
You'd have to be a registered charity or amateur sports club to get the gift aid, and that would have to be on 100% funding to to the air ambulance.
As there's deductions for stuff (t shirts, cake, etc....) that can't happen, plus a lot of paperwork........
