I like Lizard Skins. Well padded and grippy.

Halfords/Boardman do a non stick bartape that just has a tacky rubber that grips onto the bars meaning you only need the small amount of electrical tape at the end.
Dead easy to install and it's got no hard to remove stuck on bits when it's time to replace. :-bd

Not sure what's on my road bike but I've put Fi z ik (or however they write it) 3mm tape on my Jones Bars. It's got a thin tacky strip roughly in the centre which is where you overlap to, it's just enough to keep the tape in place but it's not super sticky so easy to remove. Not cheap though: £12 - £15 :o

Using some ODI stuff currently that I'm quite impressed with. Is lasting well from continued use/abuse.

I also find it quite grippy with my choice of gloves so your hands don't slip.

Fizik Performance Tacky tape - I gave this a go on my CX late last year and now have it on my road bikes too. I really rate it.

I normally go with a cheap interweb bargain tape, but I am running some Bontrager tape I picked up at my LBS and I have to say the difference is noticeable. It is really well padded.
I'll buy some more of the same, when they time comes. The best part was that it came in a great range of colours

Lizard Skins DSP has long been my favourite. It has a "tacky" feel which means you don't have to grip so hard and you end up with less hand fatigue. This even seems to work when it's wet.

I've previously applied some sort of gel pads underneath it too (Fizik or Specialized) but DSP is now available in a range of thicknesses so that may not be as desirable now.

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-profes ... rforation/ brill for £6.49. Even better when it was a bit cheaper a month or two ago.

Worst tape (not that anyone asked!) I've ever used was Deda carbon fibre look. I thought the weave pattern might give a bit of grip but no, hardest, shiniest and most slippery I've ever used.

I have this on my bars - pricy, but very durable and really grippy in the wet.
