And other stuff, first impressions look good

Pyramid looks okay, however I can see the 'tent' turning into a 'watery coffin' quite easily. There's obviously some big(ish) vents but they're low down and I can't see any high vents which are what's really required to prevent condensation.

I'm liking the look of the A frame bug tent, my partner isn't too keep on bivy bags (and I'm not too keen on bugs) so this looks like it'll work well under an open tarp?

Weight isn't the lightest, or as light as a trekkertent but its still less than 2 average bivy bags and would use the same weight tarp. And certainly lighter Than my current tent.

Only problem I see I the poles, for hiking its simple, but I don't carry walking poles on the bike.....if only there was someone (whom may or may not live in wales) that could make some nice, light, foldable bivy poles....

Did anyone buy one of these? I am thinking about getting a DD pyramid but wondered how it fared in the real world. Our Trekker stealth 1.5 is good for very lightweight situations, but we took it touring in the summer and it wasn't quite so great. In poor weather it is way too small and as the boy grows we are just going to need more space. We knee each other in the back quite a lot in the Trekker already and that is just going to get worse as he grows. Its not really designed for two to be fair.

MiniPeak would probably get my vote over the DD. The only trouble is the inner is a one person, although I'm sure a 2 person inner was available.

Yeah, I had a look at that one but it looked quite heavy. I think with the double inner it is around 2kg.

I suppose you need a midge proof inner Bridget?

Ha ha, well yes. We also usually spend our summers in places where they have mosquitoes, so mesh is not an optional extra.
