Wtb trailblazer probs
So anyone else that is using a trailblazer 2.8 notice the side walls braking down at all. I wouldn't say iv used these loads as I run 29 also but at 6 mths old they shouldn't be this bad already surely? I can see the inner threads all the way around now

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
Not experienced that ^ with them but it does seem to be common on many tyres when run at low pressures and doesn't appear to be a problem.I can see the inner threads all the way around now

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
Thing is stu I'm not running them that low really due to the rims. So they art being squashed much. Iv just emailed crc about how I stand with warranty from wtb on it?

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
I've got what might be described as "radial scuff marks" on the sidewalls. Basically the same shape as disk rotor arms. The problem I see with TrailBlazers is that the sidewalls are wider than the tread even without any load on them so when the tyre gets squashed due to riding over an obstacle it bulges even more and you start to get the sidewall being exposed to more potential damage that the tread should be dealing with/

It's not just Trailblazers...I've seen this on Nano and Wolverine as well. Not seeing it on the Nine Line though. I did ask Will from WTB about the whole thin sidewall issue @ TNR last drinks, however there was far too much Leffe involved on that evening for me to recover his response from my archives.

When running the bike in "plus mode" I've a Trailblazer on the rear and running it somewhere between 15 & 17psi. I'm 83Kg.

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
I'm running them at 20 or more most of the time on 30mm rims so the sidewalls aren't protruding past the tread like they so on a 40mm rim.
Nice one Scott although that leffe is grim mate.

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
I ran a Trailblazer on the rear of my Solaris for a while (before I sold the wheelset on).
The tyre sealant was oozing out of the sidewalls, just as well I kept the bike on laminate and not carpet.
Had the spiralling look too.
Kept air though (unlike the NN upfront...)
Hoping the problem not replicated on my Trail Boss/Ranger 3" on the new bike...

Give the dirt a little room.

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
I've been running a trailblazer on the rear for 7 months, slashed it once, and it oozes stans quite a bit. I run at fairly low pressures, and I can see threads. It hasn't been a problem yet though, so I'm just gonna keep riding until they explode. Then I'm buying a Maxxis Rekon 2.8. I've tried Schwalbe 2.8 on the rear, lasted one ride. Piece of crap.

Mine hold air but ouze sealant from the sidewalls in places
Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
Hmm i might try maxxis next time
Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
I managed that effect on a snakeskin thunder burt in not long at all this year, pretty sure it's a thin sidewall + lower pressure + decent miles thing rather than a plus tyre thing.

Surly Endomorphs used to come like that when new.
Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
hmmm i wonder if its a case of these things being kept at a sensible price but the quality is suffering?? I was looking at the ranger today but they are 70 quid plus?? thats more than a tyre for my car!

Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
Yeah, Maxxis Rekon retails at £109 for 120tpi version. I have an ardent for the 29" wheels for winter, and a chroicle for 29+ front, and they've never slashed etc, 120tpi exo versions. Super flinty around here, and they are the only tyres that have lasted so well, so well worth it if you live something flinty like me.
Re: Wtb trailblazer probs
109 quid for a tyre that is going to wear out on tarmac....noooooo that's crazy
