Mike Hall is on the start list for the TransAtlanticWay Race on June 8th too. So with a 4 or 5 day finish of the HT550 he'll have a week or so to recover before another 2500km race. That's some going :o

It's a very intimidating start list :???:

Anyway, I'll just be happy to finish.

Question to vets/Alan, how many people have had to use the poolewe alternate route due to a high river in Fisherfield?

I'm not aware of anyone but don't know that for a fact.

Anyway, see Jenny graham for advice on this ...

None, I don't think. Note that use of the re-route means you don't qualify for a finish.

After 2015, I think it's been established that the river is crossable in any condition (although you will get your balls wet)

Excellent start list. Keep an eye on Pavel - he's quite a character :) Dan Golob is a pretty handy rider too.

Nice to see a few other names from the 24hr racing scene too. Rich Rothwell will be an interesting additon

IanB - Commentating may take less time than normal for a first finished I suspect :)

This year, after 3 days I'm going to release a pack of rabid dogs to chase you all down. So keep a move on.

I dont think that's true? It's listed on the front page of the site as an official alternative route.

Taking the alternative road route would add on a significant amount of time. You need to make the decision on the bank of the river crossing - you cant just take the road route before going into fisherfield. So you've got to retrace the route back to the road first. I guess it would be 3-4 hours longer, even more now that the route goes down the postie path.

That would be an ecumenical matter.

Common acceptance is that you cross the river to be counted as a finisher. Leave Alan to clarify the rules for his event.

Also - you cross the river correctly. If in doubt reference Jenny G in 2015.

Also believe there was a bit of contention last year about the options for crossing.
Unsure if thats been clarified?

That's a wee bitty rash. There are certainly conditions when crossing the river would be extremely dangerous. As always, individuals should consider their safety as a priority.

Visit northern bank of river at the point where the red line crosses. Cross river (at some point), visit southern bank of river where the red line crosses.

Lee's DQ? That's completely fair in my view, as the bit from Shenavall down to the main crossing took a disproportionately long time I seem to recall.
