Anyone got recommendations for 700c gravel tyres please ? Routes will be 40% paved, 40% service road. 20% bridle way on average. I've got clearance for 40mm tyres, Google suggests Clement x'plor MSOs take some beating. Any other options I should consider ? Ta

40c On-One Gravel Road tyres are very good. Mike and myself rode what what peobably be decribed as a mountain bike route on them, they worked very well and no noticeable drag.

I've just fitted a pair of these as my research also suggested that they were pretty bloody good.

Not used them in anger yet but they definitely roll well!

I've got a pair of the 40mm On-One Gravels that I keep meaning to advertise as they're don't have quite enough clearance for my forks. They've only really been used for the Dirty Reiver where they handled everything thrown at them.

Any interest?

I found the Clements prone to puncture a lot..

Dont buy small block 8's unless you like fixing punctures !!! ... ive just ordered some wtb nano's in 40c flavour which im gonna try tubeless for a change

I ran 40mm Kenda Flintridge Pros on the Ridgeway a fortnight back, handled mud, chalk, gravel and tarmac far better than I expected.

Nanos are outstanding. Roll much better than the Triggers that came on my AWOL, better off road too.

Hi Vorlich - James here , fellow AWOL rider - think we have spoken before on single track ? What's the biggest tyre you've had on the AWOL? - I used to run big apples on my 26 " hardtail - I reckon a set of these in 2" could be really nice on the AWOL

Hi James the Triggers were the largest at 42c I think. I've never bothered with anything bigger and I have other bikes if I want more cushioning :) I've heard lots of good things about Big Apples though.

I run 2.35 big apples on my hardtail - I love em for general duties (Tarmac / bike paths doing child portage ) - they are t so hot off road ! might have to try the 2.0 set in the AWOL .

Schwalbe G-One set up tubeless are excellent

I managed to get 3pcs from them, still waiting for the 4th in backorder. Very nice tyres in X-king style (I think they are discontinued so on sale), measures 39~40mm in reality, weight ~400gr

they look very mud orientated for someone asking for 40% tarmac, 40% gravel, 20% horse riders really feck it it up for us bicycists.

On the picture - maybe, but in reality the middle section is more close to Small Block 8, only outer knobs are bigger.

Ive been running the Challenge Gravel Grinders in a 38c for while now, Set them up tubeless (not a tubeless tyre) and theyve been good for a couple of thousand km I reckon. Back one is a bit slick now, but done the Reiver on them, a whole lotta commuting and recently even a bit of singletrack. Going to replace like for like I think.

Give the On One tyres a try. I've used both and went back to the On Ones. Didn't find them any draggier on the road, grippier off it and lasted longer.

Loving Schwalbe Smart Sam 47mm on my Fortitude, available in lots of sizes right up to 29 x 2.25.

Been away for a few days and visitors an lbs who had Bontrager LT2s in 38mm on a demo bike, but no tyres in stock. . They looked nice.
