Any new 29 plus tyres on the horizon?

Post by Pat »

As the title really....does anybody know if there are going to be any new 29+ tyres released this year? My chupacabras are light and roll brilliantly in the dry, but try to kill you when it's damp or wet!
I know about all the current ones, but would love a conti x-king in 29x3"!

Reading a review http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/rev ... -bike-tyre which seems to indicate they won't be in the shops Statesside until August.

Hi
I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a nobby nic 29+ being released this year. Or did I imagine it?
I have just fitted some fat b nimble s on my rooster. They are what I would call a summer/hardpack tyre.
Very light with a lovely rounded profile.
Grubby little urchin.

Good luck with the FBNs. I bought a pair for my B+ Pact and had to replace the front almost right away as it had zero grip in anything at all wet. I'm still running one on the rear and have just about managed to get used to its rather unusual handling. As you say, great as a hardpack/summer option though.

My mate is running dirt wizard on the front of his Krampus....he rates it, but I am keen to see if there is anything else coming out.

I know B+ is the new 'thing', but I just wish someone would bring out a dedicated mud tyre for us big chubby munters!

I feel neglected, like the ginger bastid stepchild of the cycling world.....

+1  b+ is fine if your vertically challenged but 29+ is the one. I've heard that the DW is a good mud tyre and the new one has better side walls and is tubeless ready but we all really want a 29+ bud and lou! Chronicles are a surprsingly good mud tyre if all else fails

ve got a pair of barely used dirt wizards I'd sell. Yes, they are amazing in mud, but you squirm around on anything hard packed as much as you slip on chupas in mud. I think I have maybe done two or three rides on them. Franky, I'd rather ride my road bike on the turbo than ride dirt wizards.

I can take photos of you (or anyone else) is interested.

I like my Bombolini loads of grip - much better than the 120tpi Knard which I hated, but it might not be suited to where I like to ride

Should get the new wtb ranger mounted up this week - will let you know what they're like soon. FWIW love the Dirt Wizard - fast enough and loads of grip, have done > 1000 miles on mine w/o any issues....

I like my Bombolini but I'm not an aggressive rider. Seems to be holding up well in terms of wear with the amount of tarmac I've ridden it on recently too.
