That's ok Dave, Zoe is dropping me off and going to stay at a mates house at leighton buzzard and I'm having a leisurely ride up there arriving mid morning on the Sunday ready for the party after lunch so no need for any hospitality thanks.

Just realised that this clashes with Bearstock so I'll wave you on your way from the safety of Stu's front garden.

Did this last year - bivi'd - plenty of sleepy spots along the way, and also for food/drink resupply
I just happened to pick an extremely hot and dry spell (think it was the weekend before Wenchie did it). Ground was rock hard
I plodded along and thoroughly enjoyed the views - lovely route

Going the wrong way, but think I might well cycle down to my sister's in Bath this weekend from St Albans, via Ivinghoe and along the ridgeway.

What's your plan? I'll leave Friday afternoon, and hammock / bivy somewhere along the way.

It's (almost) a shame it's not longer, mileage wise, but I'm determined to go as slowly as possible, enjoy the views and stop for sustenance. I've found myself unexpectedly with no plans and no commitments, so a free-form bimble on a bike is just what's in order, I reckon.

Sounds like the best way to travel. Unfortunately you won't see me as I have had a change of plans and am now taking my 12 year old on a 100 mile adventure. Have fun.
