Bearstock convoy

Post by Mariner »

Just floating this as and idea.
If I was going to Bearstock might catch train to Bristol and ride from there.
Have not checked route/mileage or time required but could possibly meet up with others along the way?

I could meet you at Bristol having ridden from home.

Just a very cursory glance at maps etc and getting 120 miles from Bristol Parkway via Route 42 and NC Route 8.
Not done any research as to what they are ie on/off road.
I can get a Cardiff train from here in Devon so as a contingency might go direct to Newport on say Thursday travel a bit north and bivvy.
Bimble along Friday and Saturday give anyone else a chance to join up along the way.
Reason for starting in Bristol was always wanted to cycle over the Severn Bridge but can do that on the way back.
Not a proposal just examining options.

Very little off-road, certainly not much on route 8 up to here.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I'm considering a similar trip from Sheffield, either the EWE route in reverse (although will omit the cannock trail centre, especially as I'd be riding them backwards!) not sure if I'll ride the whole way as its 350km and I'm not sure that an extra few days off work will be possible, or...

Maybe train to knighton and head over via the TCW route stopping at claerddu and Mach for supplies...

I will look at heading NW to pick up WC2C route from Newport.
Just for ref and a back up did someone say there was a canal running across to Swansea?

Consider taking the train to Severn Beach which is near the bridge & avoids the heavy truck sections near the docks/industrial areas.

Swing by Brecon on your way past, assuming you fancy an off road option from there?
