Don't often look at this thread as my photos are rubbish, but there are some cracking photos up there. Some tech speak also that I guess makes sense to some!

Getting better at photography is easy now everything is digital and the latest smart phones are fantastic in their quality, my fat bike one above is from my phone.

To improve simply start taking more photos to become better, force yourself to take a photo a day and join online photo a day groups to keep giving you inspiration

The 2nd photo with your terrier in looks like you had been eating those mushrooms again John!
I wouldn`t know how to produce such an unusual effect.
My wife took an interest in the 1st one, not sure why, fat bikes aren`t here thing!

The 2nd photo is taken from a 360 camera and edited into when is known as a "tiny planet" photo.
The same photo can be edited in what is known as "mirror ball" like this one below, but this effect does make you look fatter.....
That's while I like Tiny Planet selfies

EDITED; clarity.

Which is why some of us still shoot film.... and manual focus even in digital. For me, the fun is in the attempt to gain skill to create something. Not the technology side.

It is not about it becoming easier due to firing more money at the problem. A great camera does not produce great images. It's about creating something with what you have. How you get there, is up to you certainly, but technology is the least of most peoples problems.

Speaking of which..

Ran a roll of cheap Kodak film through my very first SLR, an old 1965 Zenit E. Light meter has died, selenium powered system that has faded over the years, so a lot of guessing when trying to get exposure right. Also, I'd forgotten how soft the focus is on this lens!

There's probably enough pictures of bikes in pretty places on the internet already, but here's my contribution from sunrise yesterday morning.

Very much enjoying your running shots Greg. Even (perhaps particularly) the out of focus one.

Thanks thenorthwind, it's out of focus but works, I understand what you mean.

Where you at that you have snow? Looks like great conditions!

Northumberland. There must have been a fair bit on the high ground there because a lot had melted when it got mild on Saturday, but I was surprised to find any on Saturday night.

I wish I had the time, knowledge and patience that you have, or even just a fraction of your photography talent would be great place to start Greg.

Just practice. Both at patience, and photography.

First roll I've home developed in 21 years. Happy with the results mostly. Few bad frames, but mostly ok.

Nothing special photography wise but I'm very proud of my handy work from today (I didn't get out on the bike)

Image
Took out the campervans fridge, cut out 2 large rectangular holes, fitted a couple of 4" computer fans to suck in cold air in to the bottom vent, so that the air rises behind the cooling fins on the fridge and blows out of the top vent, re fitted it, sorted out the plumbing, gas supply and electrics.
Jack of all trades.......... you know the rest

It is, although it wasn't meant to be ... just kind of turned out like that, there's no filters on that.
