Great write up! I was toying with the idea of setting myself the goal of being able to complete the BB200 2016, having read your report, I might make it 2017...

Nice one pal, im guessing your bivy spot was in the shelter up the top of the car park then?? Id ear marked this as my original overnight spot but knowing the route now id of had no chance. We crashed for the night at the community centre in LLanarmon after going to the pub. We discovered another rider hanging out there in the dark too.....a John who is new.....hope u got back ok!!

Cheers chaps.

The Bivvy was just under a tree on the edge of the car park. No wooden shelters for me :-bd

I guess we'll just have to attribute that to your extra mass?

Slightly worrying that you were checking out Ian while in bed.

great read ian, can vouch for William o getting battered on his xc bike (strava comment he made) looked brutal,
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.

Great read. Is entry open to anyone? I reckon I used up all of my free passes going to Iceland for a fortnight, but a couple of days in Wales next year would be a of easier to swing!

It is ... entries will open on June 1st but there'll be some warning before they do.

hi
here are some photos from the BB and something I put on my club's blog ( the majority of the members being roadies only ....)

And belatedly- a great event again. Thanks of course to Stuart and Dee but also to the other riders who we chatted to before ,during and after the ride, especially the smirking ones outside the chippie as they polished off their feast and kindly showed us the way to the Spar.........

Ian just how rough terrain do you use the stoater on? And what's the biggest size tyres you've comfortably fit in there. Thanks

40C tyres fit comfortably. I think 42/44 would be the biggest you could fit.

In terms of terrain, you would be surprised what you could ride. Everything downwards on the BB200 was ridden bar one short steep but if grass that most others walked too. Rocks; naturally you need to pick your line in rough stuff, but I was surprised how well I and the bike coped.

Only issue is on very steep terrain, as when you're tucked up in the drop bars, the ground feels quite close to your face at times :???:
