Aye, seems to be a huge difference in the route today.

I'm glad they did, as I'd just finished a visit to a customer in Penrith when I saw their spot tracker saying they were in the town centre.
So, as stalkers do I diverted through and crossing the road in front of me there they were.

I promise that I'm not going to Scotland

One hell of a detour today

https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id ... 1902b7df4d

But who care's I'd rather be riding than working whatever the route.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Dave :-bd

The high winds cancelled our ferry and the planned route was not looking a good idea given we were going to be on the west coast for a long time. We could also have ended up stranded on Mull.

So we had to take the hard decision to go inland and seek an alternative route. This was the right one as some of the gusts really were quite alarming to one with a Kate Moss physique such as me. On the occasions that we faced west progress was glacial. But having the cross bikes meant that the track from FW to Fort Augustus was a great proposition.

Such a shame, but nothing you can do about it.

On the subject of Kate Moss, the first thing my missus saw when she saw the pic of you guys was WOW, SKINNY!

So nearly there. We could finish tomorrow but have a guesthouse pre-booked and paid on the north coast. So a leisurely spin to JOG this weekend. Great day today as the weather was kind. Learnt so much doing this trip and would 100% take the CX bike again as it opens up loads more options. Planning to return to skipped sections over the next 6 months as part of a quest to create the perfect route.

We loved the route regardless. Was an excellent adventure and the best of the LEJOGS I've done to date. CX bikes are definitely the way to do it as you have so many more route options.

Sadly the car has fuel filter issues so we are currently kangarooing along the A1 .. Which is apparently about to be shut. Wish we were still riding.

Get some high octane stuff with detergents (e.g. BP ultimate/Shell B-Power) and Italian tune it

Nice work you two, shall await your route comments/modifications etc. etc. with interest. Looks like it could be a good use of two weeks holiday sometime 2016.

So the dust has settled on a 1200+ mile bike ride across this wonderful country of ours and I just wanted to say thank you to
the Bearbones community for your support and encouragement, especially to Taylor & John who went above and beyond the call of duty,
two stinking bikers treated very well indeed.
A big thank you to Dave who came up with idea of riding from one end of the country to the other on a cyclocross bike, I am sure at points it didn't seem like such a good idea but we kept smiling any way !
The route had to be altered to accommodate the weather but it was still exceptional and I would ride it again, a special route in a special country meeting interesting people.
