Like Stu says it will be fun. The route is also open to mods as we ride there's plenty of options we only put a route together really for something to work to. And yes there are two good climbs plenty of vaguely exciting descents to be had and some really nice singletrack. And if the weather is cap there are plenty of pubs to socialise in :-bd

I assume there's not too much gnarly downhill then?

Hello, I just noticed this thread and would be interested in joining you if that's ok. I don't ride in Shropshire enough, the lure of the Peak District usually pulls me in that direction!

Right then this is still going ahead so lets hope the weathers good. I will aim to get there for 8ish. would like to get away for around 9 so we can make the most of the light and pub stops if required. Theres plenty of roadside parking around the town in various places. Im going to suggest we meet up at the top of town. Theres a bakery that has a cafe on the highstreet if anyone wants anything, i think this is the only one open early?? Theres a grassy area with carparking at this grid 453 937

I have a gpx of the proposed route ( this is open to change on the day to suit peoples preferences ). I can send this out if folk that are coming email me. The route we put together is around 50miles give or take on the Sat and the sun is around 30miles however the sunday is open to change depending on how folk feel.
Having rode the route with Scott we both think most will ride Sat then maybe chill sun, who knows. Its there if ya want it! This is more of a social thing and ride pace will be set by yaself :-bd

There are two options for food on the evening at two nice pubs but we will decide on the day. A few beers and a climb upto the woods after will see us nicely tucked up in our pits!!

Those who are attending could you let it be known so we can get a rough idea of numbers thanks

I'm taking a group out on the Fri / Sat ... if I can get them all back safe and sound at a reasonable hour on Sat, I'll drive over ... suppose it'll depend how fast they can pedal

We could start at ten just means we will be riding in the dark more but I'm easy with that...I'll go with the majority

How about a 9:30 start, and if it's getting a bit on the dark side before we hit Eastridge or we don't think we can fit it in and get back across in time, we can cut back down from the top of Stiperstones, skip Picklescott, do the Port Way and drop down to the Ragleth for hot chow.

Keeping it open for mods, of course. Especially those two lads with the shedload of lights on the front...I bet it made for great handling *grins*

Right folks, Scott said he will put a link to the gpx up later on for folk to grab if required also the issue of parking/meeting up etc. I think the Co op carpack in middle of town will be a more appropriate place to meet as it's bigger and easier to locate for those who art familiar with the town and as Scott suggested we will now go for a 930 gather. Don't forget the lights we will need them for sure ;0)

Evening all,

For your viewing pleasure, find some GPX files here... http://www.jmsweb.com/tmp/BBSH_Nov2015.zip I'll leave this up for a few days so anyone who's coming along can grab 'em.

Inside you'll find 3 files; West of the A49 is the proposed Saturday route, East of the A49 is the proposed Sunday route. Actual_Day 1 is the run Mike and I did when we were trying out the West run which doesn't strictly follow the plan and has a bit more pavement but is a touch easier to get to the dinner stop.

If you have any requests for modifications, please let me know and I'll get 'em done.

Looks a tad windy on Saturday night. Is the overnight spot sheltered or shall we stop in the pub? Contemplating a tarp, a tent or just a bivvy bag.
