Rechargable Lithium Batteries?

I've done a quick forum search and can't find any recent mention, so does anyone have any thoughts on or recommendations of rechargeable lithium batteries? I'm wanting AA for the eTrex and AAA for the Spot Tracker.

I don't seem to be able to find any made by brands I've actually heard of and would prefer not to burn my house down when charging them.

Ta!

Does it have to be lithium?

I use Panasonic Eneloop Pro AA 2500mAh Ni-MH. They are technically only 1.2V but this has bever caused an issue. I bought mine in 2017 and they gave 30 hrs use in an eTrex. On a trip earlier this month I changed the second set out at 60 hrs total time so they haven't degraded in the last 6 years. They've had quite a bit of use as well.

Evidently not!

I trust Eneloop so will go on your positive experience of using them. Thanks.

Make sure it's the Pro which are 2500 mAh, the normal are only 2000 as far as I can see.

Eneloop here too ... they must be good as Dee stole mine some time ago to use in her wireless mouse and keyboard and as yet, she's not thrown them back at me with the words, 'these are sh1t'. :-bd

Another vote for Eneloop batteries. Mine have been powering my Etrex 20 for quite a few years now and still going strong.

Another enloop user, they are designed to barely lose charge over time unlike most other batteries
Beware of low price fakes( ebay and amazon)
and get from a reputable source

IKEA batteries are evidently Enloop's, if you're passing one.

Another for eneloops, hadn't noticed they weren't lithium, but they last well in kids toys and my keyboard and mouse. They charge quickly too :-bd

Can you just use any brand of (wall) charger with the eneloops?

I use an old Nikon camera battery charger and so far it doesn't appear to have either damaged the batteries or burnt the house down.

Generally have a look at what current and voltage ranges the batteries require for charging and see if the charger fits in those ranges.

I've got a Youshiko YC4000 which was recommended, maybe even on here all those years ago.

As well as charge it will do clever stuff like discharge before charging, variable charging current and test them. Charges 4 x AA or 4 x AAA or a mix as each battery has separate charging control.

Well that seems pretty conclusive: Eneloop Pro charger and 4 each AA and AAA ordered.

And now you've all mentioned the brand, I recall we used to use the non-pro Eneloop version for wireless mouse and keyboards back when I worked in an office.

Thanks all!

I used these in my Dakota 20
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09XK5W6KQ/ ... d576b25987
Worked well, got about double the run time of NiMH batteries, but two of the four didn't last more than a few months, the other two were still going strong until I stopped using that device recently.
If you already have a suitable charger you can get the batteries on their own https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09XK5KYY6/ ... d576b25987
