Extremely off topic help required

As a lot of us are "of a certain age" I'm asking for your help.

Office chairs,
Like a lot of firms (mine is no different) they buy everyone those cheap black fake leather adjustable chairs like those that Argos sell.
But mine is hurting my lower back, yes I do walk around a fair bit but the seat has no real support.

Can you post on here a link to the chair that you have at work and which solves this lower bad back problem please?

Bit of an extreme approach but can you move to a stand up station?

Maybe if the desk and stand up lean on chair combo is around the same price and a chair
I don't want to stand up all day.

Please show me what's out there

I find this does wonders for my back or at least takes my mind of it.

Mines a 'torason' fully adjustable chair with inflatable lumbar support (Note lumbar, not anything else Stu  )
There are loads of different makes with the same adjustability. I got one after a DSE assessment and an official dodgy back prognosis from the GP.
The chairs that you sort of kneel on, big balls and stand up desks are a waste of time as you still end up slouching but with no support so they are much worse than a good supportive chair and regularly standing up and stretching.

I have a Herman Miller Sayl in the garden office, I find it very comfy.
While I did not pay for it, I would certainly look at buying another Herman Miller if the need arose..

Have a search on eBay for ‘humanscale chair’ John, the high-back type is the one to get. Still pricy 2nd hand like, but if you keep an eye out you may find something reasonable..

Seconding Herman miller here, the Aerons are extremely comfy and ergonomically adjustable
But a bit spendy

Get a lumbar support pad for the chair (might only be short term fix but quick and cheap to try) and get a programme of core exercises for you (virtually free and the benefits are transferable to a packraft, maybe all this recent paddling has set your back off?).

As tongue in cheek as you fancy

Teacher. I dream of a poorly fitting chair.

No help to you, I’m either stood/leaning on whiteboard/ on lab stool. Sorry!

Another vote for Herman Miller, the Aeron is easily the comfiest office chair I've used
