Gravel route Leeds/Dewsbury/Garforth to York

Post by redefined_cycles »

I remember someone once mentioned a disused train track... anyone got any info to make my commutes a bit more interesting (and help justify me funding my habit)...
Please

There's the planets trail or solar way that comes into York from the south. Used to do it every year with the kids. Pancake flat and arrow straight so not particularly interesting riding. I wasn't commuting but I imagine it might be a bit of a clash if you're looking to knock on at a pace amongst all the kids and meanderers.
Spoiler - I didn't know about the sculpture on the bridge so the first ride I did meant that was special when it came into view.

EDIT - sorry, got geographically embarassed and distracted by Chew's mention of York, can't imagine this is vaguely relevant

I went on the path once... does look proper gravelly and I doubt any council plans to refurb it any time soon :-bd
So even though it properly congested, I imagine there'll coke a time that it'll be proper gravel
