Thanks for the heads up Chew, and the product endorsement Ian. I've taken a punt on these (and then got carried away on a bundle deal). I've recently worn out a couple of sets of bibs, so good timing I guess! Need to get some cheap ones for the commute though, I'll go raid sportpursuit!

Sounds like the soet of chamois I could do with. Is there anything similar that comes as padded shorts only as I notice Red/White dont do non-bib shorts. Currently have 3 sets of Lusso in differing densities and are my favourites but always looking for better stuff witgout the extra costs!!

Just bought one for the wife, tried it out yesterday and for the price it's a good deal. A bit smaller than most stem cells it holds a 500ml bottle well. Effetive height is 13cm, overall 17cm and about 9 cm dia. Three attachment points (handlebar, stem, and steerer/headtube) velcro included. Can't comment on durability at this point but appears well made. Well worth a punt for occasional use.

Lidl have track pumps for a fiver and workstands for 20 quid. Also jerseys and so on but I didn't check the price.

I've mentioned my love of primaloft gilets for bad weather riding before. Found a great one in Dcathlon, Forclaz brand in the outdoor/hiking area. 220g or less, plenty of no-name fill (60gsm? Maybe winter weight rather than 3 seasons) and a good slim cycling fit where the M fits me at a relativly skinny 6ft. Packs into a stem cell no problem. Black only though. £19.99... Bought one for winter MTB, can afford to trash it at that price.

So, Wolvhammers vs Japanthers.

I can see the following differences:
-3°C to -18°C vs 7°C to -3°C temperature range
Walking boot vs cycling shoe style
Primaloft vs reflectivey stuff insulation

Does that pretty much cover it? Tempted to get some Japanthers to use where my shimano winter boots (MW81 iirc) were simply the only thing I could justify for the colder times of year. Anyone got any comments?

Chris, for this country I reckon the Japanthers will be fine. I've the Specialized version, the Defroster, and unless it gets really cold then they are fine. I have the japanthers and they are fine for this country and not had cold feet in mine
its not that often[ perhaps in the north of scotland] that its consistently in the temp range -3 to -18
mine ar e one winter old and I remain unconvinced by the zip for muddy off road use but no issues so far

Agree to wearing a gaitor or some such [ i use dry suit "booties"] for the cuff as water will get in there as it will from any shoe

This country being England anyway I'm sure.

Quite often in the -3 to -10/-12 during winter up here at commuting times
