Why do manufacturers stop making good kit !

Once I find something that reliably does the job I will be replacing it with the same when worn out but very often I find the manufacturers have stopped making it !
Latest casualties are the Revelate Pika and Viscacha, end of an era :???:

Always a shame when they do that.

I bought a spare pair of Teva Links when I found out they were discontinued for exactly this reason. It's a shame when they stop making something, or when they 'improve' something to in fact make it worse

What happened to the Viscacha?

Looks like there's something new on the way https://www.revelatedesigns.com/site/a- ... d-in-2010/

It seems like Revelate are moving away from the all-in-one bag to harness and dry bag - the Terrapin is the same size as the Viscacha for example.

Market forces init ... people are driven to buy something NEW rather than just something new.

Ah, thanks Bob.

Andy, I have a used viscacha that I'm not using, haven't used it in a couple of years now I think. I've been holding onto it for that one off need (i.e. maybe my son might want to come one day, but his bike is too small to fit it, and will be for a few years), but if you're looking for one just PM me

It was my first seat pack, I found I could bodge a handlebar bag with a drybag and straps but a seat pack required a proper bit of kit

Tenn MTB overshorts were only £20 and even though they only lasted one winter, fair enough at that price. Company now gone bust and remaining stock at twice the price on ebay! :o

Sounds about right Stu !!
Unfortunately doesn't help us lot who like to pay a reasonable price and use a good piece of kit for years because it does the job.

Appreciate the offer Ben, fortunately I have a Viscacha sitting here sourced off Ebay before Revelate announced its demise

Having used a Viscacha for a few years and then moved on to a Terrapin there's no way I'd go back. It's also possible that sales of the Viscacha have tailed off and it's therefore no longer commercially viable.

Everyones is moving to waterproof bags so guess they are going that way too. I do like my terrapin and was looking at the smaller one but picked up a brand new pika off here which I like a lot too!

I was going to whinge about the demise of Endura Stealth Lite leggings for winter, but they have a new version - the Stealth Lite 2. So I am happy :-bd

Of course, The thought of Pacers and Wagon Wheels brings a tear to my eye.

I wish Eastenders would join the list of things no longer being made. I don't watch it, but it seems to be on telly all the bloody time.

I found some pretend Wagon Wheels in Pound Saver. A close inspection revealed that they're very nearly the size of a real Wagon Wheel circa 1979.

Both of those brands have been crap for 20+ years, long before SD took them over!

I visited my Dad in care. He’s in a pretty bad way but the only thing he asked me for was a ruler and pencil. The reason is that for the last 30 years he has taken a pen to the tv listings in the paper and put a set of lines through Eastenders. He hates it that much. Made me proud.

Yeah but they're now tiny. A pale shadow of their once great diameter.
