It’s been a while since I’ve looked at mats.

Can anyone suggest me something for Scottish winter conditions? I’m 6ft and don’t sleep still.

If I have two large drinks first budget is up to around £200. Any more than that and I’ll have to nip down the Co op for a full bottle.

I've got one of those but the standard M. It's not bad but I don't think it's as warm as my old Synmat UL ... although on paper there shouldn't be much in it.

All the avove are rectangular so may suit a restless sleeper better than the tapered mat.

All of those recommendations are cheaper. I like that!

I've had a down mat lite for the past year , dosent toll up very small and is a bit heavier than others but it is very toasty

Synmat UL is what I was using on Friday night.

Yeh, looking at them it seems the best balance. I sleep warm so that should cover most bases.

That Neoair looks a little short for me.

I'm thinking that I might use an old Thermarest under the Synmat if/when I do a summit bivvy this winter.

My wife has the hyperlite. We've used them in the Arctic so they are plenty good enough.

Could be wrong but do I remember there being a problem with the tapered ones delaminating?
Apologies if wrong about this but think I would go with the regular shape.

Dunno if it was the tapered shape or a general problem with the radio welding of the baffles - I don't think there's anything different between the two shapes. My original one delaminated down one seam when I sort of half dropped on to it. It was within warranty and was replaced within a week (once I'd got back from Iceland). The replacement has been fine in the two years since but a tip I came across is to fully inflate the mat then let a little bit out, this gives the air some ability to move around and hopefully not overstrain the seams.

Neo xtherm worked very well last night and i slept on ice and snow only woke for a wee!

I had a UL LW (tapered) that blew baffles within 6weeks of warranty period run out.

My mate had the medium rectangular one that did the exact same.

Mine had seen more outings (and more weight on it ... ). I think over inflation might have been a contributing factor (blowing up by mouth you get higher than using a schnozzle).

Both were replaced on warranty without a problem once returned. Replacements came with ‘free’ schnozzle to boot!
