Well done all, however no envy as the sun's been out for 3 days here and it feels like spring :-bd

Was fairly spring like here! Man that was hard but some amazing riding. And a lot of pushing....

Nice one. Know how Lisa feels, just want to sleep

In Helsinki airport waiting for the flight back. The couple that finished the 150 last are here hobbling around due to blisters :o they took nearly 42hrs

OK, blog post - https://bobwightman.blogspot.com/2019/0 ... neath.html

I did a rough comparison on my times at the checkpoints between 2017 and this year. The section across the lake between CP2 & 3 (22km in total) took 90mins longer this time  Another comparison, with last year's BB200:

BB200 - 200kms; 4600m ascent; 21hrs20
Rov150: 150kms; 1300m ascent; 19hrs54

We're still knackered - we went to bed at half past eight last night! :???:

Definitely hard work, a bit like riding on that soft sand on the beach that lets your tyres sink by a centimetre or so and just saps energy.

Just going back over this thread and came across something I'd written last September:
Of course next year they'll have their warmest winter on record then just before the race it will freeze and everything will be sheet ice
Ah well, half right

Interesting to see your CP times Bob.

For me and lisa, going to CP1, it took us 1 hr 45 and the return journey was 2 hr 25 (if I remember correctly). It was proper chewed up on the way bike

Hopefully this will come out OK (copied from a spreadsheet)

2017 2019 Total diff Diff between CPs
CP1 00:36:00 00:46:00 00:10:00 00:10:00
CP2 01:22:00 01:39:00 00:17:00 00:07:00
CP3 03:08:00 04:47:00 01:39:00 01:22:00
CP4 04:25:00 06:24:00 01:59:00 00:20:00
CP5 05:20:00 08:01:00 02:41:00 00:42:00
CP6 06:25:00 09:31:00 03:06:00 00:25:00
CP7 09:30:00 14:14:00 04:44:00 01:38:00
CP8 12:10:00 18:05:00 05:55:00 01:11:00
End 12:59:00 19:54:00 06:55:00 01:00:00

CP3 is the one over the first lake. CP7 is the one after the hut and is the longest distance between CPs, the last two are when I'd bonked and was basically half riding, half walking.

Nice write up Phil, enjoyed reading it.

As a side note, Mrs Voodoo is very keen to go back next year (obviously to get a quicker time!), so looks like another year on foot for me :-bd

Vaguely related, but I'm watching "Losers" on Netflix. There's an episode on Iditarod (specifically the dog mushing).

Fascinating.
