My alternative just turned up, the Endura Pro SL Shell jacket: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/editors-c ... ket-358968

It's significantly lighter, a much better fit, has much better wrist covering, and is supposedly twice as waterproof as my MT500 jacket... but I'm really not convinced that it's going to stand up to having a pack worn on top of it. :|

I must admit though, I'm still tempted to keep it as a replacement to my old packable jackets, because it's really nice.

Reading Scott's latest ride report it appears that the Columbia may be better suited to winter UK weather than more mild temperatures.

Get the feeing it could end up being a bit melty for me.

I'm going to hang onto the Outdry for winter. I suspect it'll be better suited (for me) in colder, wetter conditions than yesterday, where it was only mildly damp. It's more Flashpoint weather just now.

I have been very impressed with the Alpkit Gravitas which packs small and keeps me dry. 15% off this weekend.
