Is there anything better than Dioralyte for adding to water bottles in long summer rides? I currently add some punches if cooking salt to my water when I get home from a Ride as I crave salt if I have been sweating a lot when it’s hot. Just wondering what good medicines people can suggest that are useful while riding.

High5 zero. Cheap on CRC.

The hydration tablets are goo (High5, SiS, etc), but they rapidly crumble to dust when carried on a multi-day trip, unless individually re-wrapped and packed with great care! I found some Gatorade pouches of salts, which have no added sugar/taste, so not the most palatable, but do the trick. There are also varies brands doing electrolyte tablets which I think you are supposed to chew with water, as they don't dissolve well - I didn't like them, but at least they do travel better than the dissolving tablets.

I'm a big fan of Elete. A concentrated electrolyte liquid 'add in'
Used in water you can hardly taste it. Just very mildly salty but not in a bad way.
You can carry enough for a weekend bikepacking in a 30g bottle and it contains no chemicals.

I am after more of a ‘medical grade’ than sis/high5 etc. I used to sell those and they ok at a push, but I never found they helped me electrolyte wise.

For travelling with, try to get hold of the sample packs of zero. For want if a better description, they're packed like a tiny condom in a foil packet (at least my wife claims that's what they look like) and stay in one piece much better than those in a tube.

I tried electrolyte tabs a few years back - they gave me cramps.

I have electrolyte plus tablets from MyProtein, fine for me.

Hammer Endurolytes are good for me and come in a tube so they don't get pulverised as mentioned. I like the lemon and lime. The mango ones were nasty.
