Have just received my Army surplus bivy, this thing is huge!
Laid out flat it's about 8ft long and I'm thinking that as i can get mat and bag all the way inside, the longer side used above would make a decent rain canopy (my initila impression was to look at it like a bag with the longer side down)
Rigged with https://www.uktarps.com/holdons that longer side could guy to my bike or something?
Any experience of using holdons?
Sorry if this is old ground for most of you, I've only bikepacked in a micro tent or audax hotel before.

No experience of those clips but can vouch for the Shelter Systems Grip clips.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I've used Hold ons before, they've worked fine for me

Cheers, both are inexpensive so guess I'll try them out and see.

I used mine in more than one OP without a tarp.
Great bits of kit.. I remember being issued one for the first time in 94, for the first time in a long time you didn’t just have to use a poncho and hope..
