'Soldering' isn't technically correct - it will be brazing or silver soldering, both of which use more heat (oxy acetalene) than what a plumber may do and either brass or silver filler. Its nearly as strong as a weld but involves less heat and distortion.Mariner wrote:Something to cheer you up.

Re the wall thicknesses - find a good steel frame and ting the tubes with your nail, they will be higher pitched tings in the centre of the tube due to the reduced wall thickness - all part of the magic of steel frames

What a shame that his subtle choice of the Greek messenger of the gods Hermes for his signature lug shape is somewhat tarnished by most people's (I assume) first thought when they hear the word Hermes these days
