I rode the 130 in my BBBP jersey, saw one other out there and got a "Bear Bones!" shout from someone who wasn't in one. 'Fess up, who were you?!

Didn't see you but did see Mark Evans in his BB jersey at the 3rd food stop on the 200km route. I was wearing the "King of the Pies" shirt -

Good to see you Bob and good to meet another bearbones forumite (pyro) at the end. It was a beautiful day-too hot for me if anything!

Ah yeah, good to meet you too. Whitestone, I think I cheered you in, was sat on the grass with a beer just before the turn into the castle.

In fact, just checking the phone pics I took while sitting.

Assuming this was you?

Those are mighty skinny types, Bob; how did you get on with them?

Not too bad. They are WTB Riddlers in 37c set up tubeless and are the biggest that frame (On-One Pompetamine) can take. They dealt with most of the course OK, they weren't too good where there was fresh loose gravel usually after track repairs but the wider the tyre the better in that stuff.

The rear tyre deflated for some reason, I think I had it at too low a pressure to begin with and air began to burp. My pump then broke so I was saved by a guy with a CO2 cylinder but until I got to somewhere with a track pump to get it better inflated I had to take it easy especially on what turned out to be the roughest part of the course.

Quite a few were on 650b x 47c or similar, probably the best set up.

Interesting; thought they looked thinner than 37, I ended up using 650b 2.1 Thunder Burt’s (tubeless), which where comfy, but felt a bit slow rolling - could that have been the new wheel bearings bedding in? Lost a bit of air, so may have burped or punctured at some point.
Bumped into Karl at breakfast on Sunday, and he seemed happy with G-ones.

Great, well organized day out, but I did get a bit grumpy with some idiots riding like they where competing for an Olympic medal, rather than dicking about in the slow half of a fun event! Rule #1.

Don't know if you've seen these shots taken from the bottom of that long rocky descent out from the forest?

Yeah, I was just out for the ride really as I was never going to be posting a "good" time with that setup. Had a few riders come past without warning so a good job I was holding my line. Things calmed down a lot after the first food stop and everyone got spread out, it thinned out even more after the route split. Apart from the final food stop I probably only saw twenty riders in the last third.

Not sure that's my best side, but it'll do.
