Buying gear from UK
Hi, I’ve just moved to the USA, does anybody know if I buy kit from say Alpkit with delivery to the US, will I be stung for hefty customs/courier charges? Assuming I will but just looking for folks experiences. Ta peter

There's so much stuff available in the US why do you want to buy from the UK?

If they ship via post, your odds of being charged anything are slim. Less then $1000 and you probably won't see a bill. If you ship via a courier company, then you are probably going to see a bill for customs/duties/taxes etc

There is a lot of stuff here, but it’s not that cheap believe me. I’m finding Alpkit prices are much cheaper, and international delivery charges aren’t too bad at all.Pirahna wrote:There's so much stuff available in the US why do you want to buy from the UK?

I think I only got stung once in the 8 years I lived there for custom charges - that said I left about 8 years ago so things might have changed.

There’s far better kit than Alpkit out there, surely something local would be better?

Why not ask Alpkit.
Crazy idea, but it may just work.
