Metal, cuben and carbon I do but I've never worked with leather ... I wanted a quiver but it was quite a specific kind and the only thing I could find that fitted my requirements involved ordering from the US and paying far more (lots more) than I wanted to. Working on the premise of how hard can it be, I ordered some 3mm natural veg-tan leather and cracked on. I've yet to give it one last coat of oil and I might even add some fur trim ... did I tell you I'd got some rabbit skins?

Yep, I'm not generally a fan of back quivers but with this I can reach arrows through the hole in the side ... none of that pulling the quiver over your shoulder and dislocating your arm

Not bad Stu. Edges need some work, but it's still a good first go. Show it to Kat and she'll give you some pointers.

You're right ... I made one of those funny stick things for doing the edges but you know how it is, maybe I'll do a bit more

Aye, I've got Kat's email, happen I'll send her a piccy.

Reckon you could make me a leather pouch Stu? Needs to be soft on the inside - maybe chamois.

I've a few bows now Tony. Like many things, I kind of got into it by accident.

Old Bickerstaff Tri-lam longbow that belonged to my dad. Bit of a workhorse really and was looking a quite tired but I re-finished it last month and it now looks like new and probably good for another 25 years.

An ash self-bow. Shoots nicely but will no doubt snap at some point as ash can't generally take the strain of a D shaped longbow for long.

A Blackhawk field / flat bow. Quite a cheap thing at £100, I only use it for field shoots but it does shoot nicely.

A self yew longbow / warbow. Proper mans bow

I'll admit that I've no interest in target shooting and much prefer roving, field, flight and clout ... the more traditional stuff.

oooooh i do like the look of that Blackhawk Stu  and i much prefer the more 'traditional' style bow to all these newfangled (but insanely powerful) compound jobbies, have you shot one of them horse bows? if so what do you think of them?

and are you one of them aliens who can shoot either handed?

Dee's got a horsebow Tony. They're not quite like anything else to shoot but are nice. If I were buying one to use on a regular basis I'd be looking at a Kaya Windfighter ... bit of a more modern take on the horsebow but really nice to shoot.

waist quiver
Do you mean one that hangs from a belt? Not keen generally as I find they bang about.

However, I am a fan of 'pocket quivers'. Carries just enough arrows and keeps everything nice and tidy.
