As I am going into my 6th month off the bike, during which time I have been pretty much doing no exercise due to a small medical issue I am now determined to get back to the shape I was before.

As I didn't often weigh myself I have no clear idea of my target weight but I think it's a long way from where I am atm.

Being a girl I felt initially a bit shy about posting hard facts about my size and weight - but realise this is ridiculous, I need to acknowledge the facts so bought myself some scales (terraillon coach from john lewis £14 - they measure weight fat% muscle mass and bone mass - allegedly! You can never have enough stats eh!)

I will psyche myself up to get on them shortly and will be back will some figures soon (please don't snigger!)

So.....

78.2kg
33.7% body fat
48.6% water
26.2% muscle
2.8 bone density

That is weighed on the regular female setting - although I am not sure how accurate an estimation a £14 set of scales will give I guess it will give me something to compare things to

Size wise I am 167cm tall and as I'm a girl the imperial vital statistics - scary as they are - 41/31/43 . . . Probably give a good idea of my shape. These figures would explain the jump from a 34D to a 36E which have been the only 'benefit' but they have to go

Right I'm off to contemplate how best to tackle the situation whilst sobbing into a herbal tea :((

Current stats
Date - Weight (kg) - BMI - Waist (cm) - Thigh (cm)
1/1/17 - 107.6 - 29.6 - 104 - 70
UPDATE
7/1/17 - 106.2 - 29.4 - 101 - 69

Goal 1 (end May) - weight 94 kg (BMI of 26)
Goal 2 (this year) - weight 86 kg (BMI of 23.8)

The right trajectory at least  Back on the turbo (fitting around childcare/work/etc.) and some running/swimming this week. Basically trying to monitor the calorie intake and keep to a net amount per day of around 1700... been lower this week and beginning to take a perverse enjoyment from feeling hungry rather than a bloater!

AW - go for it and good luck to you after the time off... not easy I guess. No sniggering here :-bd

Anyone else on Zwift?

Even the ridiculously expensive ones of those are notoriously inaccurate, so don't take the numbers to heart if they don't seem to be going right. I'd personally take measurements (waist, thigh etc) and what's going on in the mirror over what those tell me.

Oh good, not just me who 'enjoys' it. Not sure whether it's odd or not but I usually have more energy (or perceive that I do) when hungry.

A pie made of of meat, wow! I know it's dodgy but I love tinned meat. I'm not on a diet but this sounded so good I had to make it for lunch.
The crunchy corned beef is lovely.

Got any recipes for spam

Lobster Thermidor au Crevette with a Mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam?

Mmm.... Fried spam now that takes.me back

I'm on zwift at the moment. I haven't done any races, just do my own thing, but end up racing anyway as people pass me and it keeps telling me to close the gap or that there's a sprint or something. It's certainly engaging if you can't get out in a force ten storm.

Ian...that sounds nice, Nevis, if you get the spam sliced thin from the deli

I remember my mother used to get spam (pork luncheon meat) sliced so thin that you could see through it. Deli counter people hated her. lol

Though some did see it as a challenge.

I've been following one of the training programs to begin with but it's helping get some miles in where I wouldn't otherwise..... like early in the morning before the school run and work etc.Really helps an hour + on the turbo fly by :-bd

Seen any good bivi spots on the routes you've been on?

Gairy Mannion - Start height/weight -01-01-2017:

110kg
187cm

Target height/weight:

90kg (and eventually lower)
190cm (too much to expect regenerated hair growth after losing weight???)

09-01-2017:

108.9kg
187cm (weirdly unchanged)

Happy with that after my drunken excesses on Saturday Night /Sunday Morning and late tea last night :) Nearly 4lb off. That's put sub 17st within reach for next week, if I'm lucky.

I didn't either, and also had to buy some scales in order to take part. I'm glad I did.

I've been doing the 5/2 diet (for 5 days out of 7 you eat normally, for the 2 remaining "fast days" you're calorie restricted) on and off since May last year, and while it's clearly had a positive impact, I found it very easy to gain weight again when I couldn't be arsed doing the calorie restricted days.

My point is this – stepping on the scales each morning is giving me the motivation to do all the fast days. I can clearly see the effect when I do one, and the impact if I don't.

I'm plotting a graph of the numbers, and am seeing a pleasing (if slight) downward trend.

Ok finally got the scales working this morning.

If I can make it under 80kg I'd be happy

I'd be screwed without the freezer and microwave. I cook massive batches of slow cooker recipes (and anything else that's protein heavy), portion it up, then throw it in the freezer.

Funnily enough, I just bought a brand new freezer just so I can make even bigger batches. :)

Well done all for the efforts so far!

I'm currently say on the sofa absolutely broken after an evening fatbike ride in -10°c last night, some xc skiing this morning and just got back from Pilates at lunchtime.

The problem is worsened by the fact that I've got the rest of the day off and the conditions outside are perfect for fatbiking - I really want to go out but fear it'll kill me.

Good for the waistline though.

Keep up the good work everyone!
