I’ll have to drop the youngest sprog off at school first so my plan was to just meet at birches at 12 - if I get there earlier i’ll do a quick buzz around the dog.

If there is, at least the hills aren't too big on the chase so they won't get cold at the top waiting for us

I think it's only right and proper that I give fair warning that I'm likely to be wearing something mortifyingly embarrassing, but I'm not prepared to go into details at this juncture

I've got to enter the pit that is my garage this weekend to dig out my gear so before I have to move a mountain of boxes should I be bringing my full bouncy bike or gravel bike?

It's upto you , surely you've done the natural trails over the chase it's your back yard  ,not really drops and jumps ,bit it is a mixture of natural single track and fire road I'm not going on the cdf as its either gonna be a complete bog Fest or fast and lumpy plus if you've ridden out by the quarry and quick sand pits you'll know what to expect ,I'll be at the cafe in birches between 1230 & 1 ,got a little 30k route should only take 2- 2 1/2 hrs to get round then back to cafe to meet paramart and he can take us on his trails , depending where we eat depends where we kip

I’ve not ridden out by the quarry yet - only ever walked that way years ago. I’ve pretty much stuck to the trails between Milford and Birches for the last couple of years and the gravel bike copes with those. Not tried it on some of the steep off piste stuff i’ve done on the bouncy bike but that definitely involved drops and (small) jumps. It only really makes a difference in which bag I stick on the front end as far as gear is concerned anyway so i’ll just get both out and decide based on weather.

Just got back from a stroll withe the dog over the chase and parts of it are a bit boggy so be warned ,also there's a fair few thorns and spikey bits on the towpath on the ride in gazaddy so make sure your either topped up with sealant or plenty of tubes :-bd

Yep you can't go wrong with a bit of dog-ging on the Chase. Think I'm all set here. Noted that it claims it's gonna be 2degC overnight, wasn't expecting that level of chilliness . Might have to be winter bag after all. Around lunchtime I think I'll just do continuous laps of the last bit of FtD until I get a text from you when you're at the caff...

Depends what time gazzady gets to mine may be there a bit earlier, any how the last bit of the ftd to the cafe is still closed off ,but if you want a bit of variation reg ,when you come down son of a chain slapper ( the fun bit after the campsite)instead of going straight on to snow white take a right about 100 yards on the left you'll see some single track through the trees take that path follow your nose and it runs through the forest and down the side of the main road bringing you out at the cafe :-bd
